As an American that realizes people have fought and died for this womans' rights , I say this is too bad for this teacher . I would also say you cannot just cross out and change wording to fit your own beliefs in a Public job such as hers'. I read a few of the comments on the web site and that guy Brad makes a valid point - Pay your taxes or get fined .

When she changed the oath 15 years ago she should have not been hired. By accepting the changes previously this situation is going to be very sticky. We however, cannot allow any one to change a law, an oath or anything of that nature to fit their own agenda. Otherwise these things would be rendered useless.

Tend to agree that one just can't change wordings on things. However, conscienscious (sp?) objectors who can demonstrate such are not required to fill positions that would require the use of force. I can certainly comprehend that a bureaucrat who is a stickler for regs would object to hiring a person who changes wording. However, legitimate and continually expressed religious belief might even take precedence over this.
