Gravity is a theory, not a fact, regarding a force that cannot be directly seen. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully, and critically considered."

Why not have disclaimers regarding inertia, van der Waals forces, atomic theory, and numerous other ideas all of which have been proposed and tested repeatedly? The trouble with the idiots that disclaim science and reason is that they lack a rudimentary understanding of either.

Not about evolution to my knowledge.
But they are having an argument whether Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" should be required viewing for all students.
One British govt agency did an analysis of the movie and said the there were five very clear "untruths" or "exaggerations" in the movie. Their argument was that these untruths required that the movie should not be force fed to students.
But, the other side seems to be winning the fight - the last I heard.

Albert Einstein and Carl Sagan believed in "intelligent design" also. Should we disqualify their teachings too?
I do agree that any candidate who wants to reshape the American populace into a mirror image of their version of the Bible should be quickly kicked to the curb.
Oppression in the name of religion is wrong, when practiced based on interpretations of The Koran, AND when practiced based on interpretations of The Bible.
Huckabee is a nice guy, but I would never vote for him, based on his desire to bring the Bible to his policy making meetings.

It is a mistake to call the theory 'Gravity'. Just as ant-evolutionists prefer to refer to 'Darwinism', rather than Evolution. Makes it more personal; allows the argument to wander into personal asides.
Gravity should be refered to as 'Newtonism'.

actually, there is no scientific explanation for what causes gravity.. we know how it works (mass and spin seem to affect the force of pull to the center) however we do not know why it works.
gravitons are one theory, but there is no physical evidence of them.
personally, I believe we will eventually figure out that the electro magnetic field is directly related to gravity, but so far I have been told that I am wrong.
so gravity is a theory in that it names something we clearly are aware of, but does nothing to identify how the process exists.
btw, one sticker suggested that ID was a theory that god created all life specifically.. this is not true, actually ID suggests that god (or a creator, or whatever) caused the universe to start at the big bang and designed all the natural laws (including evolution) into it.
-this fact (the definition) doesnt make it science, but I just like accuracy.
hysterical piece. I work in a college book store, I sent it to my boss

Once again no one seems to know what a theory is...
A Theory is the highest classification in science. A Theory can never become anything other than a Theory. It is the umbrella which all the facts, observations and Laws underneith it support.
This is why we have both a Law and a Theory of Gravitation.
