March 1, 2008, 5:39 p.m.Part of the problem is the brain washing that has occurred over the past 2 or 3 decades, teaching Americans (and much of the rest of the world) that our history & heritage is nothing but corruption and so not worth preserving. Combine that with the prevalent culture of greed and desire for instant gratification (not being fulfilled) and you have a people who think that ANY change cannot be worse than that which we now have, yet unwilling to do that hard work to make positive change.
