FTA:
Clinton, a New York senator, and Obama, an Illinois senator, are tied with 47 percent support each among Texas voters, the poll conducted Feb. 29-March 1 found. A similar poll taken Feb. 27-28 had Obama leading 51-44 percent.
Tight race.

If that was true, "Dewey Beats Truman" type headlines, wouldn't be the exception, they would be the rule.
How many contests have we had this primary? How many "Dewey" headlines have there been? The only one I can think of is the NH race with Hillary over Obama. If polls were just guessing, at least half of the contests would be completely wrong.
Now, when a contest is so close that it's within the margin of error, as many of the dem contests have been, then your're right, it does come down to anybody's guess.

The one problem with the polls in Texas is that during the primary the key is delegates. And delegates in the Democratic Primary in Texas are based on the percentage of democrat votes in the districts in 2006 elections. Therefore the same number of votes in two different districts can mean two different amounts of delegates. Note this article:
http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idU...
Clinton continues to hold a big lead among the state's sizable bloc of Hispanics and has an edge in the state's heavily Hispanic south and conservative west. Obama is strong in the cities, but the two have battled back-and-forth in east Texas and now run even there.
Interestingly enought the Districts where Obama is stronger, have higher delegate counts. From the commercials they are running, it appears that the 6:45 caucus times Hillery is calling for means they may hijack and move the caucuses.

I think there is a certain percentage of poll responders who just want to take the poll takers for a ride, and give answers to questions that may be far off the mark.
Take a state like Texas. Do you think a Texan worth her/his salt is going to tell the pollster what s/he thinks about the candidates?
The correct answer-"none of your business"-gets converted to a more palatable 5 or 6 on a ten-point scale!
And if someone like Carl Rove is involved in preparing the questionnaire, he can skew it any way he wants!
I can tell you who is going to win Texas and Ohio primaries, but to keep you guessing, I am going to say "It will be either Obama or Hillary!

Well I'll just say that either of them should be better than Bush.
The one I wanted is no longer in the race. So we are stuck with these two.
One with little experience the other with a husband who was judged more for his extra marital affair than his good work in office.
Yes he made some mistakes NAFTA being the worst one in my eyes.
But compared to Bush. Well there is no comparison Bush is beyond words to exlain his terrible reign.

Hillary Clinton is and will make one of our best presidents this country will ever have. She has Bill, behind her and he was great. Time to have a change, well lets change to the one who will stand up for this country, and with her experience she will win. You go Hillary.

There we go - two-fer-one again!
I think 8 years as First Lady, Umpteen years in Arkansas as First lady, 8 years as a Senator, and Bill's 16 years or so..
I think the Clintons have given enough to our country. We should really give them a warm send-off.
Time for someone who cares about others - Obama is the Man!

Hillary represents change?????
She's a big time insider just like McCain. I really don't like any of the candidates running for president that have a chance of getting elected. Feels just like the last few presidential election, you're voting for the lesser of the two evils than the best candidate for the job.

One of the failings with the polls this season is they are questioning "Likely Democratic Voters." That means people who are registered Democrats and always vote in primaries. That's Hillary's base. Obama has been winning because even if Hillary does well among her base, she gets next to no votes from independents and Republicans. Obama wins them. He wins the youth vote, and the youth vote ACTUALLY turns out for him.
So what "Likely Democratic Voters" are going to do Tuesday has little or nothing to do with who will win. I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that the polls are wrong.

Last I heard Howard Dean was winning that critical youth vote too. How did that turn out for him? He's president isn't he?
The youth vote doesn't matter, they never vote (thankfully). The youth of this country only votes if they can text their vote in to Ryan Seacrest.
And I should stop there and quit giving the DNC ideas...if illegals and the dead are allowed to vote, why not allow text messaging votes too?

Good point you make. Looking at some other indicators they favor Obama very heavily. Texas allows early voting and those who vote early so far this year tend to be young who are finally enthrawled about politics. The young are more than most other groups going to Obama very heavily.
Look at the fact that in Texas the number of early voters is 2-4 times normal and Obama may already have had enough votes cast for him to offset anything that happens tomorrow.

I find the media in the USA endlessly interesting - especially their non-take on this story, covered by the Times of London:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_...
titled: "Mansion 'mistake' piles the pressure on Barack Obama"
I'm not necessarily saying that he did anything wrong (the evidence is inconclusive), but I am tired of reading endless, minute scrutiny of HRC's every action for the last 20 years while Obama is let alone on things such as this.

Well said StarLord.
My father who is a Republican told me Sunday that the media had not been fair to Hillary and that he is tired of the media basicly choosing who will become President. He said he Would make a chose on the experience and record of a candidate and whether they had tried to help the country and the people and nothing else. Well said Dad.

I don't know. As an independent, who started with not real inclination for whom to vote, I noticed that the media basically decided that Clinton and Giuliani would win. Obama was considered a third place and McCain was considered that as well, maybe even less. I see no media bias. The media is doing what it does best- siding with the perceived winner. Certain members of the media have acted with a bias towards the candidates, of course, but it tends towards who is winning. I think we should be giving alot more credit to Mr. Obama... he's a heck of a campaigner and Clinton was simply out-classed. She isn't Bill. She lacks his charisma. Simple as that. When policies are seen as similar and when the little differences in policy are more likely to be attracting the independents for Obama then charisma becomes important for Clinton. She may win still. Its not over yet. Don't give up if ya like Clinton. But remember that before one vote was cast the media had anointed Clinton.

One of Obama's brief speeches on CNN, most definly confirmed to me that if he gets in that our troops will be in Dafur and other parts of Africa. Our economy is in bad straits. We the working class, both lower and middle class can't keep ourselves fed, let alone in our homes. The economy affects everything, clear to our military, security and what they have to fight or use to defend our country with. We need to pay off the deficit once again. I find that Hillary is into the survival of this country and not into giving as much money away in foreign aid till this country is better on it's feet. For those that say that Blacks are denied opportunity you are wrong. Open your eyes that is what is keeping the wide divide going. The fact that people dwell on it as a crutch makes it stay alive and gives more fuel to those that would use them. We don't need new world leader, that was Bush Jr's intention. I want one that cares about this country and the People first. GO Hillary GO!

I would have you given you a positive if you hadn't said that HIllary cares about the country and the People first lol
That's almost as naive as being Obama will fix everything with "hope" and "change".
I agree with everything else you said though.

WAKE AMERICA, TRANSPARENCY is REALLY IMPORTANT; something the Clintons have difficulty"I never had sex with that woman".."Hillary I really never agreed with the war in Iraq" Talk about the Texas 2 step!!Tim Russet in the last debate said to Hillary"WE KNOW your husband has business OVERSEAS, When are you going to DISCLOSE your TAX RETURNS.quickly she said AFTER the primaries WAKE UP AMERICA Tax RETURNS show us that Bill has business partner with the EMIR of DUBI and Hillary has collected money from OIL and Health industries for her campaign!!What People are seeing is INTEGRITY and HONESTY in Obama and NEVER negative during the 20 debates Hilary and Bill are showing a lack of Transparency and Honesty intheir responses and secrecy for NOT disclosing their TAX RETURNS as has OBAMA and McCain. EVERYONE should be talking about this and emailing to CNN and MSNBC to INVESTIGATE and talk about this FACT ALL day MONDAY 3/4/08 so Ohio and Texas people know this fact!!

You can't cripple the corporate world. We need it, as it needs some of us. That would be a great mistake. Here we go again, Bill Clinton's sex life, At least he was with a woman and not soliciting some man in a public bathroom stall by tapping his toes. If anything, Bill is getting his punishment on a daily basis. Most women divorce a man instantly, which really doesn't punish them cause they just go to more women. When it comes to Tax returns, I believe they have a disclosure in Congress already.

We need the corporate world? Interesting theory. We seemed to do just fine before corporations existed. No reason to cripple it? Sure. No reason to coddle it, either. Every 'corp'(body) should have the exact same rights, tax breaks, legal breaks that corporations get. No exception.

CLINTON's TaX RETURNS are not going to be disclosed until AFTER primaries according to HILLARY. Tax returns would show that Bill has business partner with the EMIR of DUBI, OIL, and Hillary has accepted Health industry money also for her campaign!!She will owe on day one to these 2 industries and can NOT change health or bio fuels without some payback to them such as MANDATED universal health care where the fines are less than garnishing your wages to MAKE someone pay for the plan and these fines will pay off the health care industry for helping pay for Hillary's campaign. WAKE UP AMERICA Even McCain and Obama disclosed their Tax RETURNS. It will be too late if you do not DEMAND TRANSPARENCY from the Clintons and their HISTORY is to be and keep SECRETS..TRUST THEM? She did not even read the report that said NO to the Iraq war! My son is a USNAVY SEAL and even he said there was NO weapons of mass destruction.

Poorly written but correct. Are we forgetting just how unelectable Hillary is? If someone were running for school board in your local community and 45% of the people said from the start they would definitely not vote for that person the local party would likely not run that candidate. Yet many Dems seriously think Hillary could win such a national race. We would be handing the neocons 4 more years with such a candidate. Something this nation, and the rest of the world, simply cannot afford.

Any particular reason you feel like gender should be playing a role in the election, other then the symbolic value? If its just for the symbolic value then I could argue that Obama is just as powerful a symbol. Then again with the two so close on so many issues, I suppose gender bias could end up becoming a determining factor. Just like the charisma of Obama I suppose.

AMERICAN RESEARCH GROUP INC is a company with 16 employees that has had consistently screwey polls that do not match up with any other polls done. They also have Clinton camp ties.
So when everyone else says they are in a dead heat ARG comes out with Hillary as a winner. I guess they are hoping for a few more votes as some will likely feel a pressure to go with the likely "winner".
Just another sign of Hillary's desperation.

If one remembers that these are not yet the real elections ...
It´s much more interesting than in Russia, isn´t it. I am of the opinion that Hillary and her rival should work together after the decision. They´d be a great team, I think. Clinton´s coolness and Obama´s charisma, her experience and his enthousiasm of youth. Mixed up into one single person, they were the perfect democratic candidate!

Why would anyone in their right mind vote for Hillary????
She is for all the big corporations who just want to exploit middle class Americans and the world of their resources. She has attended meetings with the Bilderbergs who are for the "New World Order". She didn't even have the huevos to leave a marriage which was a facade
