Should Graphic Designers Sketch Out Their Ideas? »

Posted By deezin2 1 year, 8 months ago in Arts & Entertainment

I learned something along the way. I found out that drawing out the most primitive of sketches is equivalent to creating a road map. Would you go on road trip without some sort of directional tool? There was a time when I would, but not any more.

Great article. Sketches are good, but with some programs like you can make do your sketches and then modify tem depending on how computer savvy you are

Sketching out a project is like a story outline. Helps you stay on track but not confining because it's the idea stage. I like to have some idea of what I'm going to do before I put some flesh on the body.

As a designer with over 20 years experience, I still think sketching is critical in getting the thinking process all warmed-up. I love computers and have been working with them since the late 80's, but nothing makes you approach a problem from all angles like a pad and pencil.

I make a sketch, but don't always follow it to the letter; it is only a guide and I always find ways to improve the final design.
