"However, 1,500 pages were either partially redacted or withheld entirely, including 300 pages covering internal White House communications on pardon decisions, such as memos to and from the president, and reports on which pardon requests the Justice Department opposed."
I'm no Clinton fan, but I wonder just how much internal Executive Branch information should be released to the general public. If aides are unwilling to speak freely for fear of being recorded, is the president well served? In this instance, no vital information is at risk, Clinton's refusal to release info is just CYA. But once the precedent is set, people can demand information about anything.
Why doesn't the press ever file Freedom of Information suits against the courts or Congress? Why is the Executive Branch the only target for these suits?

Judical Watch announced today that the National Archives and Records Administration notified the U.S. District Court on March 1 that it expects to release to Judicial Watch 10,000 pages of former First Lady Hillary Clinton's daily schedule records by March 20, 2008, the date of a status hearing in Judicial Watch's lawsuit in the matter
he Archives, however, suggests it will take "one to two years" to begin processing Hillary Clinton's telephone logs.

It would be interesting to actually see the list of the pardoned crooks. I would like to know just how much Mark Rich (via his wife) paid Bill to let him go. I would also like to see the hour of the last day when Bill pardoned them all.

President Bush signed an order in November 2001 that broadened former presidents' prerogative to block the release of internal White House records.
I remember thinking what does his dad have to hide.
