Here is the difference.
Iranian President visited Iraq with his plans known weeks in advance. He drove in a regular sedan from Airport, was accorded a guard of honor by Iraqi troops and children presented him with flowers.
These American Congressmen & Bush/Cheney have to go there unannounced and in secrecy, get holed up in military protected green zone, meet only US military and Iraqi politicians. All this in a 24 hour period. Bush does not even venture to go to the green zone. He lands in a secluded desert air base and takes off.
All this with ordinary Iraqi people living without electricity, drinking water, most of the schools and markets bombed and destroyed.
Does someone see a tragedy here?

    This may have been a bit of artistic license and an assumption. This comment is not based on established fact.
    Should we all assume that you will acknowledge that you "don't know anything" based on your benchmark?
    That assumption would indicate that all of us don't know anything, but in this case, it would be true.

    "libs" i think that was nikki's point; that the iranian prez is able to enter the country without the worries of being attacked...
    ...and it is a tragedy that we took out one bad guy only to let the place get infested with many many more.

      Possibly because ahmademretard is arming the terrorists! Why would they bite the hand that feeds? Cheney on the otherhand is responsible for sending their terror loving asses further back into the stone age.

        to the iraqis and most of the middle east WE are the terrorists. it's all relative. the difference is we are in THEIR country. uninvited and unwanted, never forget that. uninvited and unwanted and with your stone age sentiments, ignorant and arrogant to boot. no wonder cheney has to sneak in, hide, get a few snaps of handshakes and smiles, maybe find an iraqi kid with all limbs and extremities and give him or her a teddy bear for the photo-op, and then fly out in the dark under the radar with a signature in his pocket that says the oil is in the bag. but who ever puts his autograph on that piece of paper will be marked and so will the companies cheney brings in to steal the oil. but yeah, sure, blame iran. like the fact that they have a border with iraq, had a bloody war with iraq and have had over fifty years of bad blood with us isn't a good enough reason to get involved. if anything iran has shown the kind of restraint we should have shown under extreme provocation post 9/11.

  And here comes the irony...
  The Iraqi people would have electricity, water, and functioning markets and schools IF the Iranian President would quit arming opposition groups!
  Could he have been greeted by the Iraqi's that he is arming and helping to kill Americans and their fellow Iraqis? Probably.

      Agreed for the most part. But ya know....to be fair...when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor we responded by invading Italy.
      But yes...the harm is done, the invasion happened...so maybe instead of blaming Bush over past mistakes that created the current crisis...just maybe, we can criticize Iran for once for continuing and escalating the crisis?
      Nah...that would be too easy...it's much easier to blame a Republican.

        Shouldn't the blame fall on the individuals that caused the problem? This is the major problem with our country both sides of the current political spectrum. No accountability and everything is left to plausible deniability.

        Could you explain the relevance of this statement? It is completely bewildering. Are you trying to compare the US attacking a country that declared war on us versus a country that didn't? Wow.

        wtagg, your intent was good, but your analogy was flawed since Italy had aligned itself as an Axis power and because the greatest threat was in Europe! The Japanese had overextended themselves and could do no furhter damage!

        He was trying to use the analogy that we were attacked (9/11) and we then attacked Iraq is equal to Japan attacking us then we attacked Italy. The difference is that Iraq did not declare war on us. Italy did declare war on us (Dec 11, 1941).
        I was demonstrating that his comment had no real relevant tie to the Iraq situation. Maybe you misinterpreted what I was attempting to point out.

        December 8, 1941 - U.S. and Britain declare war on Japan.
        December 15, 1941 - First Japanese merchant ship sunk by a U.S. submarine
        Didn't we liberate N. Africa before Italy?
        Escalation? Wasn't the troop "Surge" an escalation?
        What proof do you or the Bush Administration have the proves Iran is sponsering the insurgency? What about Saudi Arabia, I understand more weapons come from there than Iran.
