VA Won't Help Soldiers Register to Vote »
Posted By bubba2 1 year, 7 months ago in NewsFor at least 4 years, the VA has blocked efforts to help U.S. soldiers register to vote at its facilities in all 50 states. "This is politically motivated voter suppression," said Scott Rafferty, an attorney who has fought the VA in federal courts since 2004 over the right to assist veterans, including homeless vets, to register to vote.

Idiot. The military is apolitical. If the VA or the Military were actively registering military personnel to vote/select a party, the complaint would be the xxxx admin is using the VA to promote the XXXX party, regardless of who or what party was in the white house. The only way for the VA to stay above the fray is to not participate.
Registering to vote can be done at the DMV, libraries and outside at the door of thousands of stores. And yes people will help whoever to register. This is a bogus story and a bogus issue.

"It is an insult to those who have fought to spread democracy and freedom overseas to be denied the right to participate in their own democracy here at home," the senators wrote.
Utter amazing gall here. The Senator whose party sued to NOT ALLOW absentee ballots from military personnel stationed overseas and on Navy ships. Thousands of military ballots were rejected, in Florida, because there was no postage canceled stamp on the ballots. The reason there was no "postage canceled stamp" is because there is no "postage due" for military mail. This has been true since WW1.
How is it, a veteran and senator like Kerry and Gore don't know this?

"Sounds to me like someone doesn't want the ppl who really know what's going on to vote. And to injest, the military is SUPPOSED to be apolitical. That does not mean that ppl therein cannot be swayed. who's the idiot now?"
"who's the idiot now?"
You are.
The Military IS apolitical. Military Personnel can belong to what ever party they want.
Military Personnel cannot use their military titles, service or uniform for political purpose.
Example:
Letter to the editor, your local paper, anywhere USA
I'm Joe Schmuck and I think President XXX (no problem)
I'm CPO Joe Schmuck USN and I think President XXX (BIG problem)
Joe Schmuck just used his military titles CPO (Chief Petty Officer) and his service USN (United States Navy).
"someone doesn't want the ppl who really know what's going on to vote"
