Racial Double standard on Obama, preachers »

Posted by: Aidenag 1 year, 8 months ago

When Sen. Obama's preacher thundered about racism and injustice, Obama suffered smear-by-association. But when my late father - religious right leader Francis Schaeffer denounced America and even called for the violent overthrow of the U.S. government, he was invited to lunch with presidents Ford, Reagan and Bush Sr.

    Exerpts from the article:

Every Sunday thousands of right-wing white preachers (following in my father's footsteps) rail against America's sins from tens of thousands of pulpits.

Dad and I were amongst the founders of the religious right. In the 1970s and 1980s, while Dad and I crisscrossed America denouncing our nation's sins, instead of getting in trouble we became darlings of the Republican Party.

We were rewarded for our "stand" by people such as Congressman Jack Kemp, the Fords, Reagan and the Bush family. The top Republican leadership depended on preachers and agitators like us to energize their rank and file. No one called us un-American.

People neg me for constantly screaming "DOUBLE STANDARD" but it's what the cons were founded on, from the horses mouth! FROM THE HORSES MOUTH!

        More exerpts!

Dad became a hero to the evangelical community and a leading political instigator. When Dad died in 1984 everyone from Reagan to Kemp to Billy Graham lamented his passing publicly as the loss of a great American. Not one Republican leader was ever asked to denounce my dad or distanced himself from Dad's statements.

Take Dad's words and put them in the mouth of Obama's preacher (or in the mouth of any black American preacher) and people would be accusing that preacher of treason.

Yet when we of the white religious right denounced America, white conservative Americans and top political leaders called our words "godly" and "prophetic" and a "call to repentance."

Lord, i will have a stroke on this site one of these days, while the cons cheer no doubt!

          End of the article:

Funny thing is, the racist Clinton/far-right smear machine proves that Obama's minister had a valid point. There is plenty to yell about these days.

Here is a man who with his father helped found the religious right, who clearly denounced his connections to them for many reasons. Sadly not a one of the cons on here will read this, and even if they did, they would denounce him. PITIFUL!

Frank Schaeffer is a writer and author of "CRAZY FOR GOD - How I Grew Up As One Of The Elect, Helped Found The Religious Right, And Lived To Take All (Or Almost All) Of It Back.

At least he saw the error of the repub party!

Reverend Wright said nothing in a more contemptuous manner than wrong wing weirdo's have said. The difference is, the weirdo's attack gays, 'feminists', 'liberals'.....so no prob. Wright attacked white racists. Can't have that. Everyone knows the consequences of racism is no problem, and don't you dare say it is. Ironically, the backlash from the wrong wing proves he's right, but they're too stupid to see it.

Two wrongs don't make a right. These people are in direct opposition of what is taught by Christ. How sad that these preachers are trying to do what the religious leaders of Jesus's day were trying to force him to do.

Betray the teachings of God for the teachings of man.

This is where so many fall off the track and are lost. It is not up to us to try and make God fit what we want. It is up to us to fit into what God wants.

That is not hatred, but love. When preachers preach hatred they preach the work of evil. It seems to me I remember Jesus saying to love your enemy. That when you love him even though he may condemn you. God will take care of the matter and your enemy will surely suffer if they do not repent.

I guess I just don't understand men of God preaching hatred when they should preach love.

                Hatred kills, Love fills.

                Your choice.

There are three reasons for the double standards:

                  1. Racism

                  2. Unethical hyper-partisanship mania (Rove tactics)

                  3. Greed. The right wing Christian movement recruits soldiers to fight the corporate wars.

let me remind everyone that aids biggest victums at the beginning of the out break was the gay community. Now that unsafe sex practices and drug use has brought into the black community is NO ones fault but the Black communities. That Black men are killing other black men every night with guns is No ones fault but the Black community. Everyone be it Black , white, mexican, ect. is responsible for their own actions. The black communtiy will never rise playing the race card. The Hip Hop cuture is NO better than the Head banger Cuture both our insuring that our youth stays dumb and have NO future.

If I was preaching in a Black Church I would be preaching "Yes you can.but nothing is given to you in lfe.Yes you can but you have to learn, Yes you can and dont depend on the government to take care of you. Yes you can use your brain ,use your talents.

The person in this story is not running for President and the candidates running are not members of this church. What a pathetic attempt to shift attention from Obama's hate filled minister, Rev Wright.
