WASHINGTON (CNN) â;; The CEO of a company whose employee is accused of improperly accessing the passport files of presidential candidates is a consultant to the Obama campaign, a source familiar with the firm said Saturday.
John Brennan, president of The Analysis Corporation (TAC), advises the Illinois Democrat on foreign policy and intelligence issues, the source said.
Brennan briefed the media on behalf of the campaign earlier this month. The executive is a former senior CIA official and former interim director of the National Counterterrorism Center. He contributed $2,300 to the Obama campaign in January.

FTA The other two contractors, who worked for Stanley Inc., were fired. Stanley has had contracts with the department since 1992, and was recently awarded a $570 million contract to continue providing support for passport processing. Its CEO, Philip Nolan, contributed $1,000 to the Clinton campaign.

This really is a none news story, I agree that it's out just to take the heat off Obama and the Rev Wright debacle. Now, Barack Hussein Obama insists on a congressional hearing, now that's an inflated ego.
There is a lesson here for the rest of us as it was reported many times that there is a security system at the State Dept which will "red flag" a file of a well known person or celebrity if the file is accessed without authorization. That so nice but what about the rest of us? Heck, those contract employees can check any average John or Jill file busily and happily collecting names, SSN#'s and dobs. Would
those files come to anyones attention? I don't think so.
Now imagine, universal government health care, do you think your extremely personal medical information will be safe? Scary, huh?

Gee, JohnQ, how nice and polite. Now that you have stated I'm a fool, just how does that equate to my believing my medical records are safe? I never stated that at all but are you arguing that because my medical records might not be secure now it is wise to turn them over to a government entity? John, you may believe me to be a fool but you have proved yourself to be a rude boor.

I haven't been watching the news much the last day or two, but all three were accessed I saw this morning and is confirmed in this article:
"On Friday, the department revealed that Obama's passport file was improperly accessed three times in 2008, and the passport files of the two other major presidential candidates â;; Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican John McCain â;; had also been breached."
And now, we find out that the guy who peeked at the files actually works for a company that provides consulting to the Obama campaign?
Wonder if Obama will continue to call for congressional hearings at this point?

None of you very smart people thought to think that this is way too easy, Seems to me like Obama is the one being set up here...and you are all taking the bate. What better way to make a person look bad than to have a so-call friend do it to him, Where did this article come from I hope not the same place that said he was in Church nodding his head! Remember we saw that on the News too and then they were breaking their necks to retract that one!

So where is everyone that was sure it was Bush's administration's fault? I really don't hear them barking as loud as they were just a few short hours ago.
I said this before this story ever happened. Obama is business as usual when it comes to crooked politics. He is no different than any other politician.

tod, I think that it was not someone directly connected to Obama - and I think that when this sort of stuff comes up that McCain and Hillary should be given the same space - That it could be an admirer with good intentions but no brains.

"Two Stanley subcontractor employees were involved in the unauthorized access of Senator Barack Obama's passport files," a Stanley, Inc., spokeswoman said. "In each of these instances the employee was terminated the day the unauthorized search occurred."
One Stanley, Inc., contractor looked at Obama's passport records on January 9, and then a second Stanley employee accessed similar Obama records on February 21, U.S. officials familiar with the controversy told NBC News.
Stanley's Chairman and CEO, Philip Nolan, has made political contributions to prominent Republican candidates and also gave $1,000 to Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign

Shhhh, there too busy thinking that its the other company that accessed obama's files.. If they admit it was the other contractor(Stanley Inc, the one who is a republican that donated to hillary), their believe that Obama did it to distract from the Wright controversy goes belly up.

I don't know why the political affiliations of the bosses of the people who were caught looking int these files matters.
do you share the political opinions of your boss? would you commit a crime for him/her if you do?
how much money would it take to get a person to commit a identity theft crime against all three front runners? don't you think an investigation will show that? and then, when the money is traced, accusations can be made.
personally I think this is perpetrated by the same people who put forth the wright "controversy" , the same people who orchestrated the swift boating, and the flag amendment, and the marriage amendment,...all distractions designed to prevent the public from focusing on the issues at hand and actually solving our problems.. which would mean disrupting the status quo.
as to who these people are.. look at a list of people who contribute to both campaigns.. PACs, Lobbyists, Military-Industrial, Banks, Insurance COs, etc. I

It's astounding to see how much cynicism and paranoia can be aroused by a news story that is really no big deal.
And I must admit that my initial reaction to the story was that some right-wing conservative working in a politicized State Dept. had been doing some dumpster diving, looking for something to smear on Obama. Maybe a cousin of whoever reviewed and edited maybe hundreds of hours of church tapes in order to extract the most sensational rhetoric.
As the story developed, however, I came to my senses and realized that it is most likely just the usual bureaucratic ineptitude coupled with human curiosity. Another tempest in a teapot, much ado about nothing.
Why don't we all just stop expecting the worse of each other and cut our political opponents some slack? Do you think it might be possible to do this, in today's poisonous political climate? I HOPE so.
And I say: YES, WE CAN!

Point is, everyone at State, whether employee or contractor, knew there was a tripwire and that their actions would be made public. It does not matter who did it or why. What matters is that we all let this story be the non-starter it is and thereby not let "them" pull "our" strings. Fill in the blanks for them and our as you see fit.

Sorry, Klarissa, this is the same type of smear crap I was complaining about in Needy's post yesterday.
Even if the contractor DOES support Obama( and he's probably at least against two of the candidates even if he's not actually FOR someone) it doesn't mean the EMPLOYEES support Obama. I have several employees whose politics are drastically different from mine.
This whole thing smacks of a couple of bored, not-too-bright clerks just sightseeing.
They were fired. It is done.

Amazed. Two were fired, one was disciplined.
"Three contractors are accused in the wrongdoings, including the one who works for TAC, who was disciplined. "
I too think it was nosy clerks - and was not worth a big scene, however, it was Obama who very publicly demanded an investigation. Obama made a big thing out of it.

Can you relay that to Obama? Obama is the one screaming for a "full investigation". He is the one blowing this out of proportion. Chances are the idiots who looked, were just curious. Maybe not. But rather than try to grill Rice over ineptness, why not say the system works, as I remember hearing somewhere that the people responsible were caught and disciplined.
To grill Rice over this is the same as grilling a cop because he let a robbery happen on his watch...
