WASHINGTON (CNN) â;; The CEO of a company whose employee is accused of improperly accessing the passport files of presidential candidates is a consultant to the Obama campaign, a source familiar with the firm said Saturday.
John Brennan, president of The Analysis Corporation (TAC), advises the Illinois Democrat on foreign policy and intelligence issues, the source said.
Brennan briefed the media on behalf of the campaign earlier this month. The executive is a former senior CIA official and former interim director of the National Counterterrorism Center. He contributed $2,300 to the Obama campaign in January.

Oh my God that is so terrible
that the following pales in comparison:
In an upcoming book, Heraldo Muñoz, Chile's ambassador to the United Nations, writes the efforts by the Bush administration to cajole other countries into supporting the invasion of Iraq "generated lasting 'bitterness' and 'deep mistrust' in Washington's relations with allies in Europe, Latin America and elsewhere." Muñoz describes how the "rough-and-tumble diplomatic strategy" employed by the Bush administration to pressure allies for support included threats and punishment:
In the months leading up to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, the Bush administration threatened trade reprisals against friendly countries who withheld their support, spied on its allies, and pressed for the recall of U.N. envoys that resisted U.S. pressure to endorse the war, according to an upcoming book by a top Chilean diplomat. Yea the Bushies have decency, dignity, honor and integrity far, far, far above and beyond what the liberal democrats display. Pigs fly and George W. Bush never lied, doesn't now and never will. LMAO

crap I know this all old stuff, sadly old stuff, but the idea of them following us here...
'fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here'
companion piece sound byte:
'if we leave they'll follow us home'
...the first one makes it sound like we got'em corralled over there and they can't leave, when they weren't there in the first place and can just leave the way they came after 2003
....the second one sounds like 'they' don't have a map and need an escort or a travel guide or a chaperon
------
No one has ever accused me of being the shiniest penny in the fountain, but a whole nation fell for this amateurish drek ?
good lord gravy
old stuff I know. I first posted it in 2005 I think [nother handle]

FTA The other two contractors, who worked for Stanley Inc., were fired. Stanley has had contracts with the department since 1992, and was recently awarded a $570 million contract to continue providing support for passport processing. Its CEO, Philip Nolan, contributed $1,000 to the Clinton campaign.

This really is a none news story, I agree that it's out just to take the heat off Obama and the Rev Wright debacle. Now, Barack Hussein Obama insists on a congressional hearing, now that's an inflated ego.
There is a lesson here for the rest of us as it was reported many times that there is a security system at the State Dept which will "red flag" a file of a well known person or celebrity if the file is accessed without authorization. That so nice but what about the rest of us? Heck, those contract employees can check any average John or Jill file busily and happily collecting names, SSN#'s and dobs. Would
those files come to anyones attention? I don't think so.
Now imagine, universal government health care, do you think your extremely personal medical information will be safe? Scary, huh?

Gee, JohnQ, how nice and polite. Now that you have stated I'm a fool, just how does that equate to my believing my medical records are safe? I never stated that at all but are you arguing that because my medical records might not be secure now it is wise to turn them over to a government entity? John, you may believe me to be a fool but you have proved yourself to be a rude boor.

I haven't been watching the news much the last day or two, but all three were accessed I saw this morning and is confirmed in this article:
"On Friday, the department revealed that Obama's passport file was improperly accessed three times in 2008, and the passport files of the two other major presidential candidates â;; Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican John McCain â;; had also been breached."
And now, we find out that the guy who peeked at the files actually works for a company that provides consulting to the Obama campaign?
Wonder if Obama will continue to call for congressional hearings at this point?

None of you very smart people thought to think that this is way too easy, Seems to me like Obama is the one being set up here...and you are all taking the bate. What better way to make a person look bad than to have a so-call friend do it to him, Where did this article come from I hope not the same place that said he was in Church nodding his head! Remember we saw that on the News too and then they were breaking their necks to retract that one!

Gee were you as skeptical when the other story was posted?? I don't think so!
"I think the other 2 were added to save face, if all 3 were tampered with they would have said that at first. This happen quite a bit ago they can't tell me that they found out about the other 2 today! This portion of it is a lie to cover up the fact that someone went looking for dirt on Obama more than likely to see if he went to any Muslim country. This is what I meant by taking back our country. Even on this we cant tell what is the truth from fiction! And the attempted cover leads me to think this was a GOP doing!"

So where is everyone that was sure it was Bush's administration's fault? I really don't hear them barking as loud as they were just a few short hours ago.
I said this before this story ever happened. Obama is business as usual when it comes to crooked politics. He is no different than any other politician.

Your right by golly! the article I read yesterday only mentioned the 2 contractors who worked for the Obama Consultant.
And now we find out about a 3rd Philip Nolan CEO and major Clinton supporter.
What are the odds we find out 1 of these "employees" is named Craig Livingston?

If you follow that logic, what about Obama's consultant's employee looking into McCain's files? Seems like Brennan has pretty close ties to Obama and his campaign. Advises Obama on foreign policy and intelligence issues (heck he's a ex-CIA guy). He briefed the media on behalf of the Obama campaign. Sounds like more than just making a contribution, huh? Although he did make a $2300 contribution as well.
And his employee ALSO looked at Obama's file according to this report.

I don't know why the political affiliations of the bosses of the people who were caught looking int these files matters.
do you share the political opinions of your boss? would you commit a crime for him/her if you do?
how much money would it take to get a person to commit a identity theft crime against all three front runners? don't you think an investigation will show that? and then, when the money is traced, accusations can be made.
personally I think this is perpetrated by the same people who put forth the wright "controversy" , the same people who orchestrated the swift boating, and the flag amendment, and the marriage amendment,...all distractions designed to prevent the public from focusing on the issues at hand and actually solving our problems.. which would mean disrupting the status quo.
as to who these people are.. look at a list of people who contribute to both campaigns.. PACs, Lobbyists, Military-Industrial, Banks, Insurance COs, etc. I

How presumptuous. The primary fingerpointer in this thread is you, not TRUTHINESS. Besides, the blame rests with Secretary of State Condi Rice, whose responsibility it is to keep these files confidential and who has already admitted fault by apologizing to McCain, Obama, and Clinton.

Rice apologizing for this in no way justifies that a congressional oversight committee be started to investigate. Obama is blowing this WAY out of proportion by doing so. He is using this to distract away from Wright. Why is it that he keeps telling us he is the agent of change, but keeps on doing "business as usual"?
Obama is more of the same. He is worse, because he is lying about it.

It's astounding to see how much cynicism and paranoia can be aroused by a news story that is really no big deal.
And I must admit that my initial reaction to the story was that some right-wing conservative working in a politicized State Dept. had been doing some dumpster diving, looking for something to smear on Obama. Maybe a cousin of whoever reviewed and edited maybe hundreds of hours of church tapes in order to extract the most sensational rhetoric.
As the story developed, however, I came to my senses and realized that it is most likely just the usual bureaucratic ineptitude coupled with human curiosity. Another tempest in a teapot, much ado about nothing.
Why don't we all just stop expecting the worse of each other and cut our political opponents some slack? Do you think it might be possible to do this, in today's poisonous political climate? I HOPE so.
And I say: YES, WE CAN!

Point is, everyone at State, whether employee or contractor, knew there was a tripwire and that their actions would be made public. It does not matter who did it or why. What matters is that we all let this story be the non-starter it is and thereby not let "them" pull "our" strings. Fill in the blanks for them and our as you see fit.

Sorry, Klarissa, this is the same type of smear crap I was complaining about in Needy's post yesterday.
Even if the contractor DOES support Obama( and he's probably at least against two of the candidates even if he's not actually FOR someone) it doesn't mean the EMPLOYEES support Obama. I have several employees whose politics are drastically different from mine.
This whole thing smacks of a couple of bored, not-too-bright clerks just sightseeing.
They were fired. It is done.

Amazed. Two were fired, one was disciplined.
"Three contractors are accused in the wrongdoings, including the one who works for TAC, who was disciplined. "
I too think it was nosy clerks - and was not worth a big scene, however, it was Obama who very publicly demanded an investigation. Obama made a big thing out of it.

Can you relay that to Obama? Obama is the one screaming for a "full investigation". He is the one blowing this out of proportion. Chances are the idiots who looked, were just curious. Maybe not. But rather than try to grill Rice over ineptness, why not say the system works, as I remember hearing somewhere that the people responsible were caught and disciplined.
To grill Rice over this is the same as grilling a cop because he let a robbery happen on his watch...

Agreed. If the Obama camp continues to try to politicize an event that wasn't political, they deserve any blowback that comes because of it. The Obama campaign needs to be disabused of the notion that they can always have things both ways.
