"What The View host who, along with her colleagues, welcomed the Democratic Illinois U.S. senator to the ABC daytime show Friday was referring to was a claim by the New England Historic Genealogical Society that Pitt and Obama are distant cousins, linked by one Edwin Hickman, who died in Virginia in 1769.
"Are you related to Brad Pitt?" pressed Behar, according to clips provided by ABC.
"I guess we're ninth cousins, something, removed or something," said Obama, 46, adding modestly, "I think he got the better-looking side of the gene pool.""

I can't imagine why this isn't in the humour section, though it would be a weak entry there. One ha-ha perhaps.
"Joy Behar got right to the heart of the matter that could ultimately decide the election".
Is Obama sexy?
Compared to the opposition he's a god.
To suggests that a majority of US citizens will vote for him for that reason implies that they are certifiable morons. Don't forget that they voted for Richard Nixon who was about as sexy as a roll of toilet paper.
Is your argument simply a n opportunity to pick a bone with Obama for being attractive?

"The comment prompted the show's matriarch, Barbara Walters, to tell the senator: "We were saying just before you came out, maybe we shouldn't say this. But we thought you were very sexy looking."
Barbara Walters went from being a serious journalist to being a joke. It's painful to see.

I heard Obama was gonna be on the View and tuned in, and if you saw the whole thing, beginning to end, you know that Walters started out with a Pastor Wright question and the youngish woman on there followed up by bringing up his 'Don Imus' quote, which in the light of his association with Wright was hypocritical.
I thought the youngish woman's question was hard-hitting and so was Barbara's opener, which surprised the hell outta me.
Barack droned on and on after the Imus question, a tried and true politician's gambit when faced with a difficult question: keep talking until everyone forgets what the freakin question was.
after the first 5-7 minutes, the interview degenerated into a celeb type interview-but that's what the View is from what I can tell-it aint 60 minutes or 20/20, its a celeb gabfest. The fact that they even asked any tough questions of him at all was a shock to me.
so I think its unfair to make it sound like an ass-kissing festival alone.

Just when you thought the media was done heralding stupid reason to vote for or against the candidates, we get this. I am so disgusted by the way this election cycle is being covered. I like Barack, but I am not going to vote for him because he's related to some celeb. Who cares? Go back far enough and we all either descended from Adam, or from whatever the first amoeba who grew an opposable thumb liked to call himself. Depends on your view of the origin of life. But the point is, we all have a common ancestor. If they find out McCain is related to JFK, are all the libs going to suddenly vote for him? How dumb can these people get? Obama is related to Brad, and now he's sexy? Supposedly Hillary is related to Angelina Jolie, I don't see anyone saying she's suddenly sexy. The whole thing is infantile.

Modern science can trace (due to DNA markers , errors etc )all modern humans back to a common Homo Sapiens group 60000 years ago. The initial common group's direct descendants still survive in Africa. Skin color differences are believed to have emerged due to migrations away from equator in locations where due to colder climate and necessity for larger % of skin to be covered, skin trended to white to facilitate Ultraviolet light absorption (enables synthesis of vitamin D) by the remaining exposed skin.
It is amazing 60000 years later people still talk about color as if its such a big deal to the point to be an issue in a presidential race. I guess Obama now has the color that early Europeans had 30-40000 years ago or so when the deviation from black had started.

I don't believe he is related to Pitt. Media trying to make him "all American" through relation with Pitt. He is 43.75 Arab and 6.25 African. The Republican media is driving this campaign and wants Obama v. McCain because they know he will lose.

How can anyone take a presidential candidate seriously when he only appears for interviews on shows like the Ellen DeGeneres show, the Oprah Winfrey Show and the View?
When he is going to be on Meet the Press or even This Week with George Stephanopoulos?
Perhaps he needs to make up his mind - is he just a celebrity or someone who is running for the presidency?

The other evidence offered on this thread indicates that his "sexiness" will be a great vote-winner. In which case he's playing the game perfectly having a bunch of old-hen "celebrities" clucking around him.
BTW I didn't see the show, never will, never would, but that's what it sounds like from the other evidence offered above.
And when is Brad Pitt going to stand? It sounds like he could take a nap throughout an election campaign and still win hands down with or without exposing his anatomy for closer inspection.
