March 29, 2008, 5:01 p.m.The author came close to hitting the nail on the head, but missed. Is it any wonder that the same government that empowered whites to buy, sell, and trade blacks can't produce successful policies intended to instill racial harmony?

March 29, 2008, 7:53 p.m.Most black Americans are very much like the rest of us... they are not pre-occupied with slavery, nor do they blame anyone, today, for the actions of their ancestors, hundreds of years ago. However, I have never met a black American, whether a decendent of slaves, or a more recent immigrant, who has not experienced some sort of discrimination, or prejudice, or condescension. Many white Americans (maybe most) view black Americans as somehow, truly "different".
