The folks that I have seen shopping with food stamps usually use the coupons in circulars and carefully watch the prices. These coupons often place name brands at a lower price than store brands.

  Very true, and brand names are often affiliated with special promotional offers involving reward programs that end up giving you gift cards, air miles, or even free food.
