OH - Firstly, well done, first to twig it !
Secondly, I have little doubt that such a plan exists, BUT, like every other military in the world it's called contingency planning. The old "what if" scenario. I've no doubt that the US has a "what if" for the invasion of the UK (mind you, given what Brown's doing to the country, might actually be a GOOD idea!!!).....
My main thrust was the use of "they wanted to" as opposed to "IF, then". One is a statement the other a possibility.

    OH - Whilst I personally subscribe to the view that ALL politicians are self serving lying scumbags, I'm fairly sure that they are NOT suicidal. Your posts are :-
    1. A nutty (wealthy) religious guy who gives millions to Israel. OK, why not ? It's his church's money to play with
    2. The UN hates Israel & is controlled by corrupt morons. Well, nothing new there then.
    3. Conspiracy's R us..... Need I say more ?
    4. Like I've pointed out numerous times. EVERY country has contingency plans & (if they have a functioning brain cell) tests said. Like the UK training for a "dirty bomb" attack... Difference with Israel, they HAVE been attacked right left & center (by armed forces). Given their history, can you blame them for being ready ? Do bear in mind the Yom Kipur war, when they were caught with their pants WELL & truly round their ankles !!
