I find it outrageous that we have to learn this from BBC. Why does our own MSM not even mention the tent cities that have begun to spring up?

This is supposed to be the United States. I was appalled at the sight of my fellow citizens in the aftermath of Katrina. But the occupation in Iraq continues. And now we have tent cities! And the fat cat corporate types don't even turn a hair. And the MSM? What a freaking joke.

Hey, living in a tent city? Can't afford to feed the kids because food prices have doubled?

    * XXX fought many wars, bringing ABC to the verge of bankruptcy, and XXX supported the (guys) during the (war X), exacerbating the precarious financial condition of the government. The national debt amounted to almost (pick a really big number). The social burdens caused by war included the huge war debt, made worse by (XXX'S) military failures and ineptitude, and the lack of social services for war veterans.

    * An inefficient and antiquated financial system unable to manage the national debt, both caused and exacerbated by the burden of a grossly inequitable system of taxation.

    * The continued conspicuous consumption of the noble class, especially the (government toadies), despite the financial burden on the populace.

by a poor transportation infrastructure for bulk foods.

      * High unemployment and high bread prices, causing more money to be spent on food and less in other areas of the economy.

      * Widespread famine and malnutrition, which increased the likelihood of disease and death, and intentional starvation in the most destitute segments of the population in the months immediately before the Revolution. The famine extended even to other parts of (ABC), and was not helped not helped by a poor transportation infrastructure for bulk foods.

Guess what this Wikpedia article is about? Only the names have been obscured - to illuminate ALL the guilty!!!

Wow. I thought that was coming, but I didn't know it was already happening. And as cynical as I am, I'm still appalled at the mainstream media for not covering this.

Several weeks ago, I saw the one couple interviewed in reference to their house having been foreclosed, along with a few other couples who were living in RV's.

Wow, the tents and increased population of the campground is not a good sign!

Scary! Job losses, lower wages, higher prices and lack of re-training in different job skills is taking it's toll!

Prayers for all, who are struggling to survive!

      Thanks Amazing1!

Thanks for taking the time to post this extremely important story, which should be on the front page of the NY Times and on all the major media networks.

I'm not just bitter towards this government, I am damn angry at it. Many of us saw this coming for a long time; but the greedy warmongers, profiteers, and neocons were concerned more about immediate gratification and could care less about the American worker, the middle class, and the poor. Their greed is now coming back to haunt them too. Who is left to exploit?

It will take a lot of change and a lot of hardship before we can get this country back on track. It will not be done by continuing business as usual. It will not be done by unfair trade. And it will not be done if we allow the lobbyists to pay off our representatives. Hillary Clinton and McCain represent the lobbyists first and the American people are only secondary.

We better wake up to that fact soon!

Obama is right! We have a right to be bitter!

Tent cities? WoW! The more things change the more things basically stay the same. History repeating itself all over again!

These tent cities have been around LA for several years. Where do you think the 85% people live who can't afford a house in live? Of course, now that the housing market has bottomed out maybe there is hope for them.
