        Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't I read a short time ago that a consensus of Canadian scientists said the tepemps were getting colder in Canada. I could be mistaken about this because I read a lot of stuff but I don't think so.

        How about Dr. William Grey of the Colorado State University. He is one of the top climatologists. He has the best ability at present to predict Hurricanes.         You're right. The NASA Climatologist that the Bush administration tried to silence - James Hansen, IIRC - is highly upset w/this admin for trying to silence him.
        He's ALSO upset w/the CLINTON admin because THAT admin tried to get him to downplay many other factors in global warming & tried to get him to push the CO2 connection exclusively.

        That's where I heard him say:

        That article about the book claims that the global warming was started by him. The actual fact is that the "greenhouse effect" has been talked about since the 1820's. Never been proved and it was assumed that the earth was kept 33% warmer because of it. Then in the 1990's we find that the earth and moon have the same average temperature. So I guess we send that stuff to go around the moon as well. What a theory.
        The talk about censoring is real though. Many scientists have had projects shut down for saying man was not causing a significant problem with the temperature.

        What, exactly, does this have to do w/anything? Would you REALLY want the extremes in temps that are occurring on the moon?
        Here, in the DC area, we've had numerous moderate winters. Where we used to have weeks at subfreezing temps, many in the single digits (Fahrenheit, that is). Lately, we've been "lucky" if we've had a TOTAL of a couple of weeks in the single digits. This year had 1 snow that melted w/in 1-1/2 days, & 2 ice storms that were gone in less than 2 days as well. I never had to pull out my shovel - & this in an area where I used to get snowed in at least twice a winter.

        1. Average temperature over the globe for a year is what global warming is all about. not the temperature at any point at any time.
        2. If the average temperature of the earth and moon (without atmosphere) is the same then the only thing doing that is the sun not anything in the atmosphere.

        No, we contribute to .05% - that's five one hundreths of one percent. (out of the roughly .05% - that's also five one hundreths of one percent - of the atmosphere that is CO2, of which 95% is produced by water vapor).

        Yes that is proof of what? Since the temperature of the oceans has been flat with a very mild downturn. I guess it just might be overfishing. Could that be it. The population of whales is threatened not by temperature but whale hunting. Demand in the orient is killing them off.

        How about the fact that there is no evidence that man is a cause. Just because you and a bunch of other people say it is so doesn't make it so. Where is the evidence that the greenhouse gases do what you say they do. There is none and some evidence that they don't. That theory doesn't abide by known evidence of gases and thermodynamics.

  Has anybody taken the time to check the accuracy of the article?
  One of the authors sources says the OPPOSITE of what the author claims:
  From NASA Goddard: "Climatologists at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York City have found that 2007 tied with 1998 for Earth's second warmest year in a century." http://www.giss.nasa.gov/research/news/20080116/
  Might check the other data sets he mis-quotes as well

    How about a few facts. (You live up to your name.)
    Russian scientists have stated that the earth is going into a new ice age.
    The earth and the moon have the same average temperature.
    The antarctic ice is growing even though that big chunk is breaking away. Probably got too heavy.
    Temperature over the last decade is flat until this past year of a slight decrease.
    The Hundreds of sensors placed 2000 meters down in the oceans to get better and more accurate water temperature, speed, and direction show a very slight drop in temperature.
    A polish scientist has done a proof that greenhouse gass don't have greenhouse effects. His work is now being reviewed by other scientists.
    Major scientists in most countries while believing that the earth might be going through a warming cycle believe also that human impact is very very minimal.

        Hate to burst your bubble but the facts are correct even if the quotes are wrong. Of course to a true Goreabite it is complete false.
        The problem is true science is based on looking at all facts and drawing a conclusion. As more facts are known the better the conclusions. Gore went off on a fantasy trip way beyond what the scientists who were pushing the human global warming idea went.A large group of scientists feel that nothing people have done is causing the global warming. Another large group of scientists think that people have a very small effect on global warming. A small but vocal group says that people have a significant role in global warming. In point of fact there has never ben proof either way. The liberals took hold of this idea just like they did with freon. They had laws passed. Now it has been proven that freon didn't do what was theorized. They are trying to do the same here.

        The problem in North America is Mexico. The problem in Asia is China and India. Africa is a problem and some of the places in south America.
        Nothing we do in the US and Canada will have any impact because of what the rest of the world is doing. So does it make sense to do anything in the US and Canada?

        A fact I learned when I was doing work for my company with scientists working for Hughs when they were getting ready to send up satellites to study the upper atmosphere. Government funded research that Hughs was the primary contractor for. That was late 90's. They told me about what experiments they were going to run about the ozone layer. The result was that they found that freon didn't do anything to the ozone layer. One of the side issues was global warming. They told me that at that time the earth and the moon had the same average temperature. Take it up with those scientists.
        The GOES satellites take an full disk IR picture and a visible picture of the earth every hour. You can get an average temperature by analyzing the IR picture. The same can be done with IR pictures of the moon. The data is available.
