One is reminded of earlier days when Russia's quest for a warm-water port triggered much nastiness.

There are many, many billions in public and private funds being spent globally on all of the projects mentioned in the article.

We should be building nuclear plants. Wind, solar, biofuels etc. are never going to supply enough energy for highly industrialized countries.

Perhaps we should at least be figuring out what to do with the nuclear waste that we have and expect to generate.

The bottom line is that we should spend money on projects they feel we need regardless of if it is needed or has anything to do with warming. A lot of money is now being spent based on junk science with very little progress.

I challenge you to back up your claims that the proposed studies are "junk Science".

I will support my proposition that MUCH more knowledge about global weather is needed by referring you to two articles published last week in the premier scientific journal Nature. These articles describe international efforts to understand 1) the Greenland Ice shelf and 2)the rapid melting of glaciers.

Disruption of Middle Eastern oil flow would put the world into massive war far more quickly than climate change... we're talking days or weeks, not years.

oil is one thing but if there's a shortage in water or food as a result of climate change, we are likely to see war.
