Thanks Bubba, another of the many little afflictions soldiers endure and most civilians don't know about. Hearing loss and tinnitus are about the hardest things to get disability compensation for. Because it is almost impossible to prove that you have ringing in your ears the military's stand for years was: "You have earplugs, you should have worn them, this is your fault." Which is probably true to a limited extent. If your bunk is 20 feet away from a deisel electricity generator are you supposed to wear earplugs continuously for an entire 15 month tour? And Dustin, if you're getting mortared you're in a combat zone. Don't let the Mocha Latte's and Toby Keith concerts fool you. Dead is dead.

Hearing damage is the #1 disability for anyone who's ever been in the service.

      Peace time

      War time

      Front line

      Rear line

That's why when you do a hearing test there's a box to check off that says "were you in the military?"

"It's pretty hard to look at a 22-year-old and say, hearing aids will really help you."

For me the doc asked "Son do you own any HiFi equipment?"

      I said No Sir

The Doc asked "Do you plan on buying any HiFi equipment?"

      I said No Sir

Doc said "Good, cause you can't hear it"
