April 27, 2008, 8:36 p.m.The audit released Sunday by Stuart Bowen Jr., the special inspector general for Iraq reconstruction, provides the latest snapshot of an uneven reconstruction effort that has cost U.S. taxpayers more than $100 billion. It also comes as several lawmakers have said they want the Iraqis to pick up more of the cost of reconstruction.

April 27, 2008, 9:07 p.m.Let me Guess....The Bush administration will send Mr. Crocker to ask politely. Then, in Crocker's next report to the Senate he will explain how well the surge is working even though the political front still needs improvement because the Iraqi "leadership" has not been able to find two coins to rub together.

April 28, 2008, 12:52 p.m.Private industry as well. Stealing tax payers money. Fraud. One problem. The Dept. of (in)Justice is full of CONS. We've been robbed, and nothing is going to be done about it. Nothing.

April 28, 2008, 7:58 a.m.Everything the Bush administration says about its "success" in Iraq is a giant smoke and mirrors operation designed to sucker Americans.
Petraeus, Falling Upwards. Selling the President's General
Politics รข;; Petraeus's record, -- in Iraq, not Washington -- for each of his previous assignments proved dismal. What the record shows is a man who, after each tour of duty, seemed to manage to make it out of town just ahead of the posse. Zionist Petraeus is the product of a disinformation campaign by the Bush regime.

April 28, 2008, 9:19 a.m.Just more "good news" from Iraq. With all the problems we have here at home with our roads and bridges alone wouldn't it have been nice if we would have spent the money here in this country instead of pouring it into the bottomless pit that that we made Iraq into?

April 28, 2008, 11:02 a.m.Bush and Cheney and their rich cronies don't care how much money has been wasted and about all of the lies and corruption. They only care about the agenda they have forced on this country for the last 8 years - an agenda that has made them, and their big corporate buddies, rich.

April 28, 2008, 11:26 a.m.Where the hell is Congressional oversight? Congress have failed the American public in not exposing this waste and fraud and no one has been brought to task! And Bush could care less because it's his friends who have reaped the rewards for supporting this folly in Iraq.

April 28, 2008, 12:31 p.m.Congressional Oversight? My foot. As long as Republicans are in Senate to kill everything about Iraq, there will be no solution to Iraq.
Worst of it all, John McCain has vowed to continue the Iraq blunder even if it matters to a 100 years.
What a screwed up country, screwed up Republicans, screwed up campaign rhetoric where race, church and past associations are the main criteria for screwed up voters.

April 28, 2008, 12:57 p.m.Apparently Iraq IS just like a toilet. We flush big piles of money down there, but it seems no one is willing to stick their hand in to try and get it BACK. Seems to me that huge multi-billion dollar corporations (e.g. Bechtel) should be required to GIVE BACK any money they received for incomplete contracts.
This also - once again - points out the obvious: We aren't really doing a damn bit of good in Iraq. We should GET OUT and starting right now.

We gave all this money to these huge American corporations and just ignored the Iraqi people, like they weren't even there. We're idiots.

April 28, 2008, 5:57 p.m.Yep, we are a bunch of idiots and it seems that everybody knows it except us. The pansey american people will bend over and let you stick it in their butts. I can't believe what I'm seeing that is going on. When I talk to people they just say if it gets bad we will move to Europe. I guesss that you all have just give up without a fight. I was just a kid when WWII ended and I can remember that those people were REAL Americans and thay had balls. What in the hell has happened to us? Non of these politicians have any, they are just a bunch of bought and paid for bureaucrats that somebody is pulling the strings on---get my drift? The rest of us vote on these guys just like it is a soap opra with the best ratings. That just shows how dumb we are today and that just may cost us our nation--but then again that stuff going on in Iraq is just a typical way business is done! Well, lot's of luck suckers-- hope there is a country for your kids to grow up in that is free.

April 28, 2008, 6:09 p.m.Maybe We the People need to sue the contractors for fraud and breech of contract! After all, it is our money! They should be required to return every dime that they owe us, for incomplete jobs!
Why isn't our US Attorney General not doing something about this?
I am not surprised, just disappointed at the level in which businesses have sunk, to take away our tax dollars, all for profit!
Thanks engineer!
