May 1, 2008, 6:44 a.m.FTA:
Joe Andrew, who was Democratic National Committee chairman from 1999-2001, planned a news conference Thursday in his hometown of Indianapolis to urge other Hoosiers to support Obama in Tuesday's primary, perhaps the most important contest left in the White House race. He also has written a lengthy letter explaining his decision that he plans to send to other superdelegates.
"I am convinced that the primary process has devolved to the point that it's now bad for the Democratic Party," Andrew said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.
I am sure this will speak volumes to the uncommitted superdelegates, also FTA:
Andrew said in his letter that he is switching his support because "a vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote to continue this process, and a vote to continue this process is a vote that assists (Republican) John McCain."
I have said all along she was more conservative than McCain was. Now i am more convinced of it.

May 1, 2008, 6:44 a.m.Andrew said the Obama campaign never asked him to switch his support, but he decided to do so after watching Obama's handling of two issues in recent days. He said Obama took the principled stand in opposing a summer gas tax holiday that both Clinton and McCain supported, even though it would have been easier politically to back it. And he said he was impressed with Obama's handling of the controversy surrounding his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Wright's outspoken criticisms of the United States have threatened Obama's candidacy. Obama initially refused to denounce his former pastor, but he did so this week after Wright suggested that Obama secretly agrees with him.
"He has shown such mettle under fire," Andrew said in the interview. "The Jeremiah Wright controversy just reconfirmed for me, just as the gas tax controversy confirmed for me, that he is the right candidate for our party."

May 1, 2008, 9:40 a.m.According to CNN's count, Obama picked up 5 superdelegates yesterday compared to Clinton's 4. This morning she has picked up a super from Connecticut and Obama has plucked/removed Mr. Andrew from Clinton's column.
Thus so far today its Obama by 1
Needless to say at this pace Clinton will only continue to lose ground.

May 1, 2008, 11:54 a.m.Despite the encourging news of more defectors jumping ship, this is the dirtiest nomination process that I have ever witnessed. The Clintons and the media have been disgracefully deceitful and ruthless in their attacks on Obama's past relationships. The double standards are just one big excuse to avoid appearing racist; but the message is loud and clear to those of us who are educated and not in denial about it.

May 1, 2008, 11:39 p.m.I am glad to see that Hillary Clinton ended up paying a price for the shameless pandering of adopting McCain's loony-tunes energy policy. Gas tax holiday? Run the deficit even further up and encourage more wasteful use of dwindling energy resources. Brilliant! NOT!

May 2, 2008, 1:12 p.m.Hillary is a Rovian politician...a neolibbot (neo-liberal-Rovebot)...as far as I am concerned, she signed her fate when her campaign called Obama a "Judas"...she is owed NOTHING; if she wants support from Liberals and Progressives; she must EARN it...and so far, she's earned damned little!!!

May 2, 2008, 9:39 p.m.Shadow,
If I may make a correction here:
Her campaign called Bill Richardson a Judas, and not Barack.
***********
n2n, thanks for a very timely and provocative post!
I have several observations to make:
1. Hillary has no ethics, no morals and absolutely no regard for human decency. She has proven time and again that she can lie through her teeth and would care less if someone called her on it.
2. She is like a sinister composite of Richard Nixon, Barry Goldwater, Karl Rove and Bill Clinton, without their "equipment"! She can pack a mean punch, and can certainly hit below the belt.
She can kick others in the groin, but she probably wears a prosthesis to protect hers, although there is nothing "there" to protect.
3. When she grabbed Bill's "assets" during the Lewinsky scandal, she probably wrenched out a promise from him that he will make her a President. That is probably where the "entitlement" comes from.

May 2, 2008, 9:47 p.m.As far as Joe Andrew's choosing to support Obama, that has to hurt the Clintons!
More important than his declaration of support to Obama is the reasons why he did it!
It charts a course for other Super Delegates to follow, and the reason and logic for doing it!
It is really heartening to see that there are Democrats to put more value on principles than political expediency!
