Peter King (R-NY) slammed fellow Republicans for pressuring Vito Fossella (R-NY) to resign amid revelations of a drunken-driving arrest and secret love child. Fossella admitted to an affair and a 3yo daughter with the woman. Fossella was arrested on drunken driving charges after running a red light on the way to her home.

    FTA:

"He's entitled to an interval of decency without having this constant pressure coming from his own party," King said of his friend charged with drunken driving in a Virginia suburb.

HOWEVER, Democrats are never entitled to the same interval of decency. These cons need to stop thinking anything they do is ok. I know Spitzer was dealing with prostitutes, but adultry is adultry.

      I loved this quote:

"King said Republicans "who are supposed to be his friends" should be giving the Staten Island-Brooklyn Republican "the time and opportunity to make that decision" -- whether to resign, to serve out his term but leave afterward or to stay in office and seek another term -- "himself."

--What King means is that the "liberal media" needs more time to manufacture another "controversy" about Barack Obama potent enough to shove Fossella out of the headlines for a couple of weeks (much like the Wright story did for Spitzer--albeit a little too late for him, unfortunately), and give him time to cry and bite his lower lip on cue on camera and announce he's going into rehab.

DEFIANT VITO: I CAN CHEAT AND RUN

Defying disgusted constituents and Republican leaders, disgraced Rep. Vito Fossella has told pals he plans to seek re-election.

And, shockingly, the he is feeling "pretty good" despite the public pounding he's taking over his double life, he confided to friends. He even expressed shock that other Republicans are eyeing his seat. "What's this all about?" Fossella asked Guy Molinari, Fossella's political mentor, of news reports naming potential GOP candidates. He said he was "surprised" and "puzzled" that party colleagues are being mentioned as possible replacements.

Those close to Fossella continue to support him. "Vito is surprised and emboldened by the support he's been getting. He's gotten a lot of encouragement," said Molinari. "I told him nobody is going to run a primary against him if you decide to run again."

spoken like a true member of the party of torture, preemptive war, the breaking of 800 years of accepted western law (habeas corpus) and the Constitution (eavedropping w/o a warrant! And, how much farther does your party have to put the country in debt and devalue the dollar? Oh, I didn't even mention not funding 10 million poor kids heathcare or Dumya's veto to prevent our past Sadam tortured soldiers from suing Iraq!

Hmmm , donnie,,,,, what you just wrote says all anyone needs to know about you. No matter what the topic is at hand you can spin it into that same said tired reply. The topic is about what's going on and my reply pointed out that your party actually is very good at eating their own as well. Stay on topic I know it's hard for you but the cut and paste post you always make about any topic , sometimes, most times doesn't fit.

              http://politics.propeller.com/story/2008/05/11/...

"Republicans used the PA, IN, and NC primaries to register their unhappiness with McCain by voting for Ron Paul, Mike Huckabee, or Mitt Romney. In Penn, 27% opted for Huckabee or Paul; in N Carolina and Indiana, McCain opponents earned 23% of the vote. The Washington Times calculated that McCain had garnered no more than 45% of the Republican vote."

It's expected that a race as close as Hillary Clinton's and Barack Obama's would get a little chippy. That shouldn't be surprising. What IS surprising is that McCain's own party continues to chew him up and spit him out--as detailed in the article cited above.

Which of you staunch Hillary or Obama Haters will support them if your guy or gal doesn't win? I'd say most, your argument is weak Dawgs

It's true; the Republicans do vote their displeasure from time to time, when Republicans begin to act , like Democrats while in office. What we don't do that the Dems have no problem doing is bringing up, race when you get your first chance to elect a Black man as president. We don't bring up drugs about the one we are running against from what I've seen, we also don't call each other 'racists' to win the nomination to run for President. Sure we talk about politics and say we don't agree how to run the Country (Voodoo economics) or other ways. I don't think the Republicans have looked into the personal lives of opponents in their own party like you have now.

Apparently, you don't remember the smear campaign run against John McCain by GW Bush supporters in the 2000 South Carolina primary. The things said about McCain back then were FAR WORSE.

                    Your partisan selective-memory strikes again.

CLINTON: "I intend to do everything I can to make sure we have a unified Democratic Party. When this contest is over and we have a nominee, we're going to close ranks. We're going to be united ... The most important goal for us is to put a Democrat back in the White House."

OBAMA: "There are going to be some bruised feelings, whoever the nominee is. We are going to have to come together and remind ourselves that there is a heck of a lot bigger difference between either Senator Clinton or myself, and John McCain...I think short term, there is going to be work to do for the nominee to bring the party back together again. People feel pretty passionate about their respective candidates. I appreciate that, and I understand it."

--Slater, don't confuse true Democrats with oxy Rush Limbaugh's repulsive flying monkey squadron (aka the bitter, delusional, and disgruntled wingjob electorate). In contrast to flipflopper con Republicans ("Baaa...We cain't vote fer Keeeeerry. He's a flipflopper. We cain't truuuust him. Baaaaa"), Democrats don't lie to themselves and others about their voting criteria in one election and then turn around four years later and vote for someone with the very qualities they claimed motivated their earlier voting decisions. And please don't even TRY to turn this racism HORSECRAP around on the Democratic party when it's racist white REPUBLICANS who pull out some racist sleaze at every chance they can get. Or did you think we forgot about Harold Ford or the racist crap that Bush fans used to smear McCain back in the 2000 GOP primaries?

                      http://www.gallup.com/poll/105691/McCain-vs-Oba...

"Only 28% of Clinton supporters indicate that if Clinton is not the nominee -- and Obama is -- they would support McCain. That compares to only 19% of Obama supporters who would support McCain if Obama is not the nominee -- and Clinton is. The vast majority would support either Democratic candidate in the general election.

It is unknown how many Democrats would actually vote for a Republican next fall if their preferred candidate does not become the Democratic nominee. The Democratic campaign is in the heat of battle at the moment, but by November, there will have been several months of attempts to build party unity.

Additionally, some threat of deserting the party always takes place as party nomination battles are waged, and this threat can dissipate. For example, 11% of Republicans said they would vote for the Democratic candidate if McCain does not choose a VP more conservative than he is."

Documentation? Dawgs you always go with the "but but you have no data argument as a rebuttal" to everything! My opinion is based on current events over the last few weeks, so I'd guess for the sake of satisfying you lust for data. I'll ask you to 'remember' the various newscasts over the last 8 weeks? Now remember, this is a blog, yes it's about facts but it's also about Ideas, notions, opinions and just how one feels about a topic, there isn't always need to have data for "most humans' to understand that fact.

Well, if coverage is as ubiquitous as you claim it is, then you shouldn't have a problem finding data. After all, I readily produced Gallup Poll data to support my argument. Why can't you reciprocate? Are you simply too lazy or too obtuse to posit a data-supported argument?

CLINTON: "I intend to do everything I can to make sure we have a unified Democratic Party. When this contest is over and we have a nominee, we're going to close ranks. We're going to be united ... The most important goal for us is to put a Democrat back in the White House."

(CLIONTONS) Sorry I talked about your drug use Obama, sorry we talked about racial things and sorry for putting the Rev tapes out in public Obama, now I want to 'unite' LOLOL. Yeah you go ahead and believe that. Hillary's personality may be many things, but being politically stupid isn't one of her traits. She is saying exactly what she needs to say to save face for the future being how things look bleak now. No more no less, she is already 10-steps into her political future, I'd think someone that likes to study data and crunch numbers and stats would be able to see something so clear to most ' average' Joes.

I'd like to see the source for this paraphrased quotation. Go ahead and provide a link. I'll wait, although something tells me not to hold my breath waiting.

You are obfuscating and avoiding the issue YOU brought up. The Clintons do not speak for the entire Democratic Party; in fact, as the polls demonstrate, the Clintons don't even speak for the majority of the Democratic Party.

Now do you have proof to support your assertion that the majority (over 50%) of Democrats across the entire nation (not just a particular demographic in a single state) would vote for McCain over the Democratic nominee or not? If you don't have any data to report, just say so. You only further embarrass yourself by continuing to avoid posting data to support an argument YOU RAISED.

                            LOL.

The Hillary Clinton quote I used to support my argument was a DIRECT QUOTATION. Your work of fiction was nothing more than a farce--which is exactly what your argument is too.

What's the matter? Don't have any documentation to support your counter-argument?

Why don't you cry about it?

Your first 2 links are rants ... no backup documentation. And the majority of the "offenders" are pretty far into the past, especially Roosevelt.

Dan Rather??? what a hoot ....

Third link: what is the source of Howard Dean's supposed comment? None is provided.

Fourth link: I don't care for a lot of what those 2 do and say. While they say they are Democrats, they are NOT politicians (and neither is Dan Rather). The focus of the article is about politicians IN office.

Rather thin on the documentation, I think ....

Yep ... the Republicans impeached Clinton for lying about sex.

And bloggers like aniokly continue to portray Clinton as so immoral.

Hehe...I think some people forget how tenacious the GOP is where the Clintons are concerned. Even if the DNA evidence had been cleaned up, sooner or later Ken Starr, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Larry Craig, David Vitter and the wingjob media would've cooked up some other phony scandal. We'd hear all about how Monica's dry cleaner's 8 year-old son's best friend was baptized at a church that was next door to a concert hall where Bin Laden's niece once sang an Arabic version of God Bless America. Can't you just see the Washington Times front pages for weeks on end? "Lewinsky Loosely Linked to Dry Cleaner Linked to Al Qaeda" or "Clinton Administration Neglected to do Background Search on 8 year-old 'Terrorist' Sympathizer: Impeachment Hearings to Begin Monday." ;-P

Is that why Hastert did nothing about House ethics after either the Foley or Abramoff scandals? You haven't thrown out the Repug congressmman who pled guilty to fooling around in the Minnesota rest room! More right wing denial of facts from you slate.... totally typical of you hypocrites!

"The Rs usually toss thier shamed ones out, the Dems promote theirs."

                                      Is that so?

                                      http://www.nypost.com/seven/05102008/news/regio...

"Those close to Fossella continue to support him. 'I got every indication that he plans to run again,' said Guy Molinari. 'He's not just inclined to run. He plans on running. Vito is surprised and emboldened by the support he's been getting. He's gotten a lot of encouragement. I told him nobody is going to run a primary against him if you decide to run again.'"

Don't forget David Vitter (R-LA) who received APPLAUSE after confessing to hiring prostitutes--the SAME crime for which Elliott Spitzer (D-NY) was forced out of office.

"Sen. David Vitter returned to the Capitol, apologizing privately to GOP colleagues. In a private weekly luncheon for Republican senators, Vitter briefly spoke and received a round of applause audible outside the room."

The R's have continuosly had the fouled up administrations in the past 40 years.

So you really need to think about what you claim.

The party line means nothing to me except a bunch of people willing to goosestep along.

The party of family values, for sure.

Foley, Vitter, Craig, Fossella. One resigned in shame, another cried and continues in Congress, Next one thinks he did nothing wrong and continues in Congress and the last one is being shielded from going in to oblivion.

On the Democrats side, John McGreevy resigned the same day he declared he was a Gay. Elliot Spitzer quit with or without pressure.

Republican hypocrites lead by John McCain who want to lead the country for the next 4 years, hang in there.
