And you think the Illinois Republicans are any better? I used to live in DuPage county and the Republicans were as bad as the reputation of the Chicago Democrats.

The real proof was back in 1960 when the Republicans accused Mayor Daley of throwing the election for Kennedy and demanded a recount in the City of Chicago. Daley, knowing the corruption in the Republican counties said that he would agree to a recount if the recount was for the whole state, not just Chicago. The Republicans backed down.

      WRONG, skeptic.

The recount in Illinois was stopped by NIXON, because he did not want to cause the kind of crisis that Algore was ALL TOO WILLING to unleash in 2000.

Nixon, for all his faults, was a FAR BETTER MAN than Algore.

Err, we aren't talking about the Nixon who had to resign the presidency for cheating on an election, right? The one recorded forever swearing and plotting and just in general being a corrupt doofus?

So who is this nobel prize Nixon with the unfortunate name?

And you're talking about the Daley I think you're talking about? The guy who made Al Capone look honest? Daley was one of the most corrupt officials ever to come out of Chicago. It's good to see his son maintaining the family tradition.

            Oh! I see your point...

Chicago had a crooked dem mayor, so Prez Nixon was ok.

            It's a kind of balance.

Nixon didn't have to resign for cheating on an election, an election that he won by the LARGEST MARGIN in US history, by the way.

He was forced to resign, by Republican senators, no less, because he had engaged in a cover-up of a 'dirty tricks' campaign by underlings in his campaign. It is from Watergate that the phrase was coined, "it's not the crime, it's the cover-up'.

The 'crimes' were so inconsequential, as to be silly. Nixon would have been better off if he had just left the bunch to hang in the wind, but he didn't, and the rest is history.
