Disturbing Stirrings: Ratcheting Up For War On Iran »
Posted By populist 1 year, 7 months ago in NewsWith Iraq still raging and hawkishness over Iran heating up, it's disquieting to think what's coming, and it's got Middle East leaders uneasy. Not about Iran, but about a rogue administration with over eight months left to incinerate the region in a mushroom-shaped cloud and no hesitation about doing it.

I think that at this point, if the admin really tried anything extreme in the ME outside of Iraq, the Pentagon and Congress would have no choice but to ignore their orders and relieve them of duty. Even the handpicked bunch of idealistic young lt. generals that they have running things now (the only ones left that haven't resigned or been relieved of duty for telling them they're nuts) are not so stupid as all that.
One would hope.

Bush has pretty much purged all the top line officers who might buck him. There is nothing left but the Bush butt-kiss set. Don't hold out much hope for them stopping his loony plans for grandeur. It's going to take impeachment to stop him unless both parties nominate someone who plans to bomb Iran after he leaves office.
Of course, their mantra is that they are just going to bomb strategic targets, like a "known" terrorist training camp or "known" nucular [sic] weapons facility. You know, like the "known" WMD facilities that were all over Iraq... the ones Cheney amd Rummy insisted we KNEW the locations of.
They INSIST there will be no possibility of any blowback. We can do this without consequence. Just like we could invade Iraq with a light force, it would take 6 or 8 weeks, and Iraq's oil revenues would pay for the whole thing.

Deja vu all over again.
Imagine what happens when one tanker or freighter is sunk right in the middle of the Strait.
No matter how much it might please Israel to have the US attack Iran, I don't think that Israel will get involved itself. It's position is already too tenuous.

The last thing Israel wants is the US attack against Iran. You see, unlike some posters here Israelis and their leaders realize that such attack will trigger an Iranian attack agaist Israel... and Israel will have no choice but to "get involved" with thousands of Israelis being killed and maimed.

That's all the Iranians would have to do to create worldwide turmoil. They would sink one of their own ships of course. Of course it would hurt them economically but if they are hit they have limited responses.
20 USD/ a gallon gas? Remember it is the speculators that determine price and such a situation would cast great uncertainty onto the world market. These men have proven themselves idiots before (specifically Cheney and Ahmadinejad) so nothings ruled out.

If there is a war between the US and Iran .... kiss everything you hold dear goodbye. I believe there are factions that wish this to happen .... i just don't unstand the logic behind it. I agree with the politicians that want dialog between Iran and other states in the area.... words do not kill, but may be the answer to prevent further killing.
To believe in not talking to your perceived enemy, is like saying..."we have made our mind up and you are the problem not us....we are right" Thats total BS. Threre are faults on both sides of the equation ....the US must own up to some of their faults as well as Iran.

Generally, big business is the stabilizing influence. They want war. Great for profits. They do NOT want a rout of American forces, or a nuclear holocaust. VERY bad for business. They pretty much own the RepugniCons in power now. Let's hope they can reign them in. Off the table Nancy seems to care less about doing it.

Apparently it is. I, too, am still puzzled by this. It's really a pretty shameful situation that Americans have become such herd animals that the Gubmint can get away with stuff like this, just the disinformation let alone acting on it, and not be strung up by hoards of peasants wielding pitchforks and carrying torches. I would say that they must be putting something in the water, but it's probably just fear conditioning from the idiot box.
Not sure which, since I don't drink the water or watch TV...
Well, you can drink the water, but you have to run it through a coffee filter (with coffee in it) first, or at least add some bourbon to it in a minimum 1 to 2 ratio. Ice cubes count.

No, a declaration of war must come from Congress, not the President. Congress authorized the invasion of Iraq and subsequent funding of the occupation. Depending on the terms of the treaty, the war may be legal or illegal before taking into account international treaties involving the UN. Currently an outright congressional order to end the war in Iraq is impossible due to the balance of power within Congress itself. Essentially the government is deadlocked at the moment.

A twisted far left rant and the faithful mind numbed robots just talk in lock step. Everything conservative is evil. Big business is evil. The only thing not evil is taking peoples money to spend on what they see as "helping" people whether they need it or not.
They ignore what Islamic hate people say is their goal. Iran - Wipe out Israel, sharia law for all Muslim countries.
Palestinians - Wipe out the Jews, (50$ of their young children want to grow up and become suicide bombers).
al Quaeda - Destroy the weak Great Satan US and end up conquering it and bring it Sharia law.
Just keep the blinders on and think you can have meaningful talks with a religion that never really negotiates. In Islam from the time of Muhammad treaties are to be used as a temporary way of gathering their forces for the next attack. Muhammad said , "War is deceit."

Both the Bible and Koran are the words of man. They are myth not history. The reliance of such a large and dangerous segment of the worlds population on these old, moldy texts will be the undoing of mankind.
So now it's the Islamic Hate People (IHP) instead of the Islamo-Fascists (of course that one was truly non-sensical)? We have only provided them with recruiting fodder and martyrs for their cause up to this point. We have done nothing to change the perception of America only reinforced what they are taught in the poisonous madrassas that we continue to ignore.
The Iranian threat is the silliest of all, they can do nothing to Israel without ensuring that their own nation ceases to exist. We have assured Israel of this and of course the Iranians understand the MAD concept. What we hear from Ahmadinejad (and truly very little of late) is the typical rhetoric of a ME ruler. All bluster and bravado without a bit of realism behind the words.

"Just keep the blinders on "
Just keep the blinders on to what supposedly Christian (or Jewish) nations have said.
All 'sides' are at fault for hateful language. At least as nations of leaders. The individual people, however, are always the saving grace. Which is why so many countries hate the US, but love the American people. Funny thing is they're able to seperate the understanding of national identity and individual creed.

News flash:
Saudi Arabia and it's allied Arab countries are threatening to cut diplomatic and economic ties with Iran for it's funding and training of Hezbollah and other terrorist factions (it's about time).
Looks like the U.S. and Israel aren't the only ones who want war with Iran (military or otherwise).

Good God what an extraordinary piece of blather. A truly heroic attempt to weave a tapestry from pocket lint. The author sounds like a basement-dwelling, delusional, self-abusing paranoid.
Out of context quotes, generous use of [ ] and ( ) and truly Olympian leaps of faulty logic/reasoning. And where is at least one link? One should get at least one link to get a handle on where the "author" gets his information.
I don't keep a record but this is the most propagandist ranting posted by populist that I have read. I would expect this from many of the Mid-East sites that I read. I have to give two-thumbs-up for the sheer chutzptah of the man to write this sack of drivel with no documentation.
I read some of the craziest stories here on propeller.
