    Hopefully the day will soon come when a virus or bacteria can be scanned, a weakness immediately identified, and a drug synthesized pretty much on the spot that will destroy it ... but not the human host.

      Don't hold your breath. There won't be any excuse for the drug companies to rip you off if that were the case.

        Ahhhh, but there is the COST of that machine (one in every drug store....) AND the cost of the various raw materials it would need. Once developed, they could charge plenty for raw materials and NOT need to spend those billions on ongoing research. MORE profits, not less.
