it already is. we`ve seen the same one-sided, hypocritical hair-splitting, character assassination attempts from the Right in every election for the last decade or more.
To the author:
"You're wrong about why small-town Americans don't vote for Democrats."
Hey Sherlock, you`re wrong about small-town Americans not voting Dem, we are brother, we are!!
We`ve had enough of the elitist crooks transferring our wealth to the cronies, lobbyist, war mongers, and political ******s.
Obama represents our first chance in many elections to elect a president who is not beholden to the right-wing or left-wing establishment.
If any con cared about constitutional rights, they never would have voted for Bush in the first or second place, and they sure as heck wouldn`t be considering McCain.

The last line of the article:
"And we see you're just a horse's ass."
Its a good line for shock value; since the article starts out politely, as though gently rebuking Obama for the mistakes he made. Then gradualy builds up into that shriek of hate.
John McCain recently said:
"This mindless, paralyzing rancor must come to an end. We belong to different parties, not different countries,"
That McCain says these things (and seems to mean it) is perhaps the final reason the far right is not and can not ever be comfortable with him.

And the fact that McCain is willing to say things like that even if the far right dislikes it is a very good thing. Bush and other politicians are too concerned with left or right, that has to be forgotten for this country to get back on the correct path.

This from the guy who sought out the bigot preacher Hagee`s endorsement for over a year?
This from the guy who jumped on Bush`s BS to try to attack Obama over too much common sense?
Uh-huh, John, more hypocritical BS isn`t going to get you any more moderate/independent votes.
More talk, more of the McSame.

Good article RRJ. I hate that we only have 999 characters to write on this site. That "Hope and Change" message along with the "Yes We Can" have been such a joke. And then there were the first rallies that people were fainting at. OMFG, he is a rock star. And the throngs prove it.
But, his messages are what have gotten me to look the other way. Seriously, when a politician starts preaching it is time to look the other way. AG coined it perfectly last year when she wrote the words... "Cult Of Personality."
He preaches at his rallies, and the throng of worshipers shout "yes we can" as an amen. He has the way of bringing them together. But, you and I both know that he is another politician. You and I can think of two words that sum him up just like his counterparts. Illegal Immigration, are two words that still come to mind. But, remember we would vote against that and so then we are labeled racist cause we want Illegals to go home.

Yes, just like one of my all-time favorites, Comrade Stalin.
Hummm isn't Black liberation Theology Marxist in basic theory? Maybe that is were I'm getting the Comrade OBama idea from.
(But secretly I'm more of the Rasputin fan. Man could handle his poison and liquor and he definitely had a way with the women as well as being a-political. A true party animal.)

What exactly were your fore fathers when thet hit American shores? Immigrants. Why is it all of a sudden America can longer be a dream for people to strive towards? I agree it must be done through the front door and not the back but, let us be fair and look at our own histories. On a different note, They are all politicians and anyone who thinks not is fooling themselves. I will say this I have spent many hours studying these candidates and for all that I've learned I voted in my primary for Senator Obama. And I am as blue collar as it gets. The others are ,well, my mother always told me if I couldn't say something nice not to say anything at all so I'll abstain from making degrading comments in regards to the other candidates. I will say this a whole lot of the people on here sound an awful lot like elitists to me, know what they say? People who live in glass houses.....

When we use the term "immigrants" it's used incorrectly as we try to be politically correct. Most of us are upset by the illegal aliens sneaking across the border or other foreigners being here without legal status. Most politicians court certain blocks of voters and so do not take a position which would be good for the nation. There are all that way. The American dream is being destroyed by our lack of an immigration policy and a lack of control of our borders.
You call a lot of us elitists here, what happened to your mother's advise? Did she want you to speak no ill will toward politicians?

bama- you are reasoning with the unreasonable. Nothing they say makes sense, their real reason for not voting for Obama is very simple but you couldn't get a bunch of cowards to say I am racist. They would like to think they are god fearing good Christians. They are full of hate and if there is a judgment day, they will have to answer to a higher authority.

You know darn well that's not what I am saying...don't try to put words in my mouth tbkennedy53. If this is what you gathered from what I am saying then you need to take a closer look. Your reverse psychology is so seventh gradeish. And yes, you are raciest if you are among that bunch of cowards of which i speak.

Open your eyes tbkennedy53 it doesn't take to genius to know that if some one is spitting all of the usual racial stereotypes that they are racist! Or do you think they are doing so because they are loving of the black person they are berating? Look, we are not the idiots that you think. The operative words being ( you think...the editorial you that is) they/you are not talking over our heads, we are actually ignoring your ignorance when you think we don't understand your double speak. The only one that doesn't understand is those very ones assuming they are over our heads.

So true. I wonder how much those that call people that do not support Obama "racist" would support Alan Keyes

(or Michael Steele http://www.msa.md.gov/msa/mdmanual/08conoff/htm...
or Clarence Thomas

if they were runnning for President...)

I think 999 characters is probably a good limit; brevity being the soul of wit.
As for messages of change, the new Republican motto of "Change You Deserve" is not getting enough air time.
I would like to hear exactly what the Republican leadership thinks America deserves, and how much is it going to hurt?

"And, since your rise I've hunted, quite frantically, for young conservative leaders with your talent. (To my relief, I found Bobby Jindal.)"
Interesting that the writer mentions Bobby Jindal
I think this is a name we are going to hear mentioned frequently in the future

I have to admit, I'm not as thrilled with Obama as I was a few months ago. I'm not ready to jump on the McCain wagon, but Obama's sheen is definitely wearing a little thin. I really, really want to keep on believing in him. But I need...something.
I don't know.

Obama is a man, flawed and human, just like the rest of us, but he is a man who is brilliant, sincere, hard working, altruistic, dedicated, patriotic, and longing for, fighting for, and working for a positive change from the dark side into which we have slipped over the past 8 yrs.
Has he made some mistakes along the way? Tell me who the heck hasn't? But, by and large, he's made more correct decisions than incorrect ones, and he is headed in the right direction! I'm sticking with him all the way. Darned if I want to sink further into the abyss, which is exactly where we're headed now.

I have just one question? In your opinion, what positive changes has Obama been working towards? In my research on the candidates voting records, I have found little differences in the three front runners. Voted to reinstate 'Patriot Act', of 69 Iraq related bills Obama and Hillary only differed on one vote...Obama voted for Gen George Casey and she voted against They are all affiliated with the CFR *shudders* They all have openly stated they *would* invade Iran. McCain is the worst of the bunch in my opinion. I feel he would just be more of the same. As for Hillary, well, let's just say I feel very uncomfortable with two family dynasties running the country for the past few decades and then Obama, whose voting record does not match his hope/change rhetoric.

The Speeches he gives are about hope and change. He gives a very top level idea of what he is talking about. That leaves everybody thinking he will do what they want never realizing that there are no specifics.
If you go to his web site there are a lot more details and they are very expensive. Very far left. They want your name, email address, and zip code to go in and then they hit you with requests for donations. You have to look carefully to find his stands on things.
What a guy.

Ummm, it's called fund raising, and it's brilliant and effective, which is why both Hillary and McSame are now doing it also. As always, he's the creative, innovative, progressive one in the lead.
I have yet to get any literature from any political figure in the mail or otherwise that doesn't contain a pitch for funds. Get real.

I get a letter from my Congresswoman every three to four weeks. Generally, she addresses issues of interest to me and outlines her position on each and every one. I don't agree with her on some of the issues and will probably support her opponent in our upcoming primary.
She has not requested a donation from me in any of her correspondence.

Sometimes when ones mind is closed to new ideas it only see's what it wants to see. An open mind, well, an open mind allows one to experience new ideas, soperhaps we should work on opening up our minds to the possibility of positive change.

If you want to learn a lesson from past experience, you should be willing to give a different person with a different point of view a shot! Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

How does the writer reconcile their animosity towards taxes with their support for continuing the Iraq War. We keep borrowing $2,000,000,000 a week from the international community to prolong the War. The writer's position is fiscally inconsistent.

It seems that everyone is always complaining about politicians not getting them or not understanding the average person. Well isnt obvious that will a country this size, that you cant please every single person and that everything that is wrong cannot be fixed. I mean the things you all say about Obama, the same can be said about every politician. So what now.. Who has Presidential Experience except an Ex president...not the wife of or the side kick. One can only know what they wll be able to do when they get there. Until then, EVERY politicians words are hopeful speeches. I can sit here and tell my staff that I want to get X amount of grant dollars for this year but until I actually know what I am workign with and DO THE WORK ITSELF ...it's just hope. Dont be mad because he can out talk someone. (and notice how I didnt make it about race)

McCain lost whatever gravitas he had when he got swifboated in 2000 and then surrendered to the swiftboaters immediately after that.
If he capitulates so easily to the people in his own party, how can anybody expect him to stand up to our enemies?
As far as experience goes, McCain has zero. No, he actually should have a lot, but he refuses to learn. Look at the gas tax plan?
Obama, experience and common sense - McCain none of the above.
Diplomacy?
Obama, common sense and experience learned from watching Bush et al mistakes.
McCain, nothing, guaranteed to repeat others mistakes at cost of GI lives and hundreds of billions more of our $.
McCain needs to come back again in about twenty years, when maybe he has the maturity and experience to be a global leader.

Meh. Saying small town people are stupid is obviously ridiculous and untrue. But it is still true that people vote based on non issues like gay marriage and terrorism in north Dakota. What terrorist would ever bomb anything in North Dakota? And as a result we get retards like Bush in office. It is a little hard not to get bitter at yall small town folk for electing people based on things like "family values".

barry says nothing better than anyone has in a long time--he is a totally far-left marxist at his core and both he and his bride are arrogant , impatient ,elitist ,racist fakes that have typical liberal disdain for the folks in flyover country--this works well in the left coast and ny but in the general he will go down in dukakis size flames--a good example of his fraud is that he went by barry until he ran for office and decided that barry didnt sound black enough..so he pulled barack out of his sock draw and found a good ,racist socialist black church for his storefront

It must be dificult to keep accusing Obama of being an arrogant elitist, without sounding like you are looking down from the balcony of your penthouse at some trash in the street.
If he went by Barry instead of Barack, you would accuse him of denying his black heritage. If he switched churches, you would accuse him of shopping around for a nice white church.
Is he racist because his white half hates his black half, or his black half hates his white half? And added together does that cancel out, or double?
The math of hate is hard.
For some of us, anyway.

Perhaps AG, you and Jose M. can do a grassroots thing to get George Bush written in on the ballot come November.
Oh--he's already served two terms!
But since his spirit and politics resonate so with the present cabal, which seems to be floundering with the idea of McCain (although he inches more rightwards hourly, depending on the prevailing winds)....
PS, Attacking Obama doesn't make a case for any other candidate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the majority of the posters on this thread wouldn't vote for him, in any case.
So, apart from the masturbatory pleasures of dishing him (and I have NOTHING against those in their, er, proper place), WHAT'S THE POINT?
(Though the vehemence of the protestations DOES indicate that NERVES HAVE BEEN TOUCHED, doesn't it?)

No, vid, not at all: Bush, given his position and politics, posed and continues to pose (well, maybe not so much, considering his almost universal, one could say WORLDWIDE repudiation) a real threat.
So in re Bush, we've left the realm of masturbation and entered that of full-throttle, purposeful, er, intercourse.
In other words, of getting screwed!

This article was just weak. It's become clear that the far right can't come up with any new material, so they'll just keep hyping the same distortions and misrepresentations to keep the focus off any real issues. The sad part is not only do they try to veil this rant as an appeal to reason (while using the same tired, dirty attack lines we've been hearing for months), but there's absolutely nothing to substantiate the only two policy points (which is really just ad hominem whining) that they make.

Interestingly, I`m small town, white, working class, angry, bitter and voting for Barack.
The writer is a hypocrite who splits hairs over Baracks words and give McCain/Bush a pass.
If he held the same microscope to McCain as he did to Barack, he would be a Barack volunteer.
McCain`s flip-flops, lies, entitlements, and elitisms disgust me as a middle class american.
I cannot even imagine voting for McCain, it would be voting against my own self-interest.
