    CRYMTYPHON is correct this time

    The governor in Texas has very little power

    The real power is with the Lieutenant Governor

    In the case of Bush, the Lieutenant Governor was Bob Bullock - a VERY powerful conservative Democrat

    Bullock actually broke from the Democratic party to endorse Bush when he ran for governor

    Bullock didn't want the position of governor - he knew where the real power was

      Yeah but how long did Bullock last. Seems Perry had more of Bush's support than Bullock did. Not so sure about the Gov not having power, that little thing with Perry and Bullock was no small thing.

        Bullock last in politics 4 decades, then retired.

        He died in 1999.

        He never went up against Perry, but would have considered him the lightweight he is.

        And if you are not sure about the basic structure of the Texas Government, google it.
