It's going to be awfully hard to achieve inter-galactic flight IF Einstein's on the mark with time slowing for the space traveler the faster he gets to light speed. I mean, IF you traveled half the speed of light, and slowed to half normal time, you'd live twice as long, but, space debris coming at you would not only be coming at you twice as fast, but, hey, you'd be traveling half of light speed as it is, making sensors alerting you to on coming collisions with meterors impossible. You'd either have to design a craft to make you like a neutrino, or, make objects coming at you, neutrino like. But, even neutrinos can hit something, so, it would have to be better than that. OR, maybe you could design a ship that has a powerful ray beam infront of it that flashes out of existence anything that's in your path? Good way to start an space alien war, unfortunately.

Various methods could be used. I actually think that wormholes hold some of the greatest promise... its a rather simple concept, but breathtaking and I know of nothing stating it can't be done. Nowhere near that yet, however.

Perhaps I've watched the UFO, I mean, HISTORY Channel too much, but, supposedly, UFO's can dive into water without causing a splash. This would seem to mean they can be ghost like and fly through other objects.
