Karl Rove; Fabricating Indictments against Democrats »

Posted By Spadecaller 1 year, 5 months ago in News

MSNBC's Dan Abrams questions Karl Rove's outrageous refusal to appear before Congress regarding serious allegations that he used the US Justice Department to take down a prominent Democratic politician. Did Rove instigate the prosecution of former Alabama Governor Don Siegleman? Will Congress force Rove to testify before Congress?

    Robert Wexler

"If Rove refuses to testify voluntarily and ignores the subpoenas that will certainly be issued, he should be held in Inherent Contempt of the House of Representatives.

No American is above the law. None of us should be able to ignore Congress without consequence. If Mr. Rove ignores a subpoena from the Judiciary Committee, then the House of Representatives should pass an Inherent Contempt citation and exercise our right to send the House Sergeant-of-Arms to gather Mr. Rove and bring him before Congress to testify."

"Enough is enough. We have a Constitutional obligation to provide accountability to a White House that is trying usurp the constitutional powers of Congress."

Bravo To Robert Wexler. We must demand that Congress stand up to hoodlums and renegades like Rove, Cheney, Meyers, Roberto Gonsalez, and Mukasey. Without a Congress, there is no government of or by the people. And right now we do not have a Congress.

If Rove gets away with framing political adversaries by abuse of power and by manipulating the justice system, they will have the power to undermine any good leader who could become an advocate of the people. This is serious.

      http://topics.law.cornell.edu/wex/contempt_of_c...

In February, Congress held Meirs and Bolton in contempt for their refusal to testify on the same issue. As required, the contempt charges were turned over to the US Attorney in D.C. to prosecute. When they hold Rove in contempt, he too will be turned over to this U.S. attorney, who has jurisdiction. BUT.....

The D.C. US attorney is Jeffery Taylor. He was counselor to Gonzalez & Ashcroft, & was an aide to Orrin Hatch. He's in thick with CONS, and nothing will be done to these people. CONS have carefully inundated the judiciary system with their pals.

The key to destroying their effectiveness is exposure. When the public becomes aware of this and we start weeding these crooks out of office, they will lose power and the inside track.

Mainstream media is competing for ratings and when these subjects are highlighted on the internet they ofen challenge the msm to follow suit, because msm is beginning to lose their audiences who are starting to turn more and more to the internet and other sources for news.

Bottom line: it is up to the people to make the government work.

I'd like to see Rove and all the neocon crooks pay for what they did.

The Nuremberg trials seems to be a sample of what is needed.

We need to make sure our country is not led by the Nazi like propagandists.

Get a rope, in fact get a lot of them. Bush, Cheney, Rove, Gonzales, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Rice...

Time this country cleaned its' dirty laundry and hung it out to dry.

To prosecute because of a political party is Nazi like. Hmmmm yep. Sounds like a Bush, Rove, Cheney deal.

Put 'em over in Iraq in the front lines and let them die for what they claim to be the truth. Don't think you'd see that. The war would end because of the cowardice of those chicken hearted basta*ds.

I hope they enjoy what they reap for what they have sown.

Thanks SC for posting this. While I hope and pray that Rove will have to not only testify, have charges brought against him and jail time, I am realistic (hard not to be pessimistic with a Nazi supporting loving administration in charge.) enough to know it may not happen. I pray for the good of the Citizens of the US and future political candidates (true patriots from any party) that he is brought before congress.

It absolutely amazes me how Rove is always up to his axe in everything but at the same time he is guilty of nothing. Flat out amazing.

As for having no Congress. Right!

Which to me means 'we' have no Constitution.

Which means 'we the people' really have no 'basic rights'; only the rights granted to us by our political over-lords. Would Gobbles be proud; you bet pardner.

I don't care who wins the next Presidential election for to me it will be 'see the new boss, same as the old boss' which means the only 'change' coming is the 'change' in name of the President not the policies.

            Again.

            Daxn I hate all politicians!!!!!!!

They all are lying, thieving, bottom dwelling scum. The only time they can ever tell the truth is when they are in a very deep coma; which means they can't.

They all need to get an honest job for once to see how the other half has to live with their narcissistic idiocy.

            & that includes Rove.

Congress can get past the Attorney General.

                http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/05/15/verdic...

                Wexler --

"We would much prefer Mr. Rove voluntarily agreed to appear before the House Judiciary Committee, as would any other American citizen. But my view is that if he refuses to come voluntarily, we must first subpoena him, and if he refuses to honor the subpoena then the full House of Representatives must hold Mr. Rove in Contempt of Congress. And then we must ask the Attorney General to enforce the Contempt of Congress subpoena or citation. And if the Attorney General refuses to do so, which Mr. Mukasey said previously before the Judiciary Committee that he would, then I believe, reluctantly, we need to literally uphold the checks and balances that this administration has so abused and then we need to go the extraordinary step of issuing an Inherent Contempt of Congress."

If national politics could be considered warfare and if political leaders could be called generals...Carl Rove has been the political equivalent of Sun Tzu.

The concept of governance by the Executive and Judicial Branchs, was field tested in the election of Rick Perry Governor of Texas.

The Legislative branch of our government has been too concerned with re-election than with the running of our country. It has been in their best self-interest to not oppose those currently in power. Now that we are in the latter days of President Bush's administration, our representatives are finally showing that they have a spine and walk on two feet.

Problem is, Wexler's rehtoric is a little too late in the game. Sadly the treasonous individuals that suborned our country and our constitution will get away with it. Any attempt to prosecute will be met with a Presidential Pardon/Reprieve at the last moment.

It sounds good this "Contempt of Congress" charge. How long do you think that it will actually take to charge Rove with it? By the time Congress actually goes through the various motions...The national election will be over and President Bush will be known as "Former President Bush-2.0"

It sounds good on TV. It would have more teeth to it if, they had started this process 3 years ago. OR looked deeper into the '00 election of GW Bush. Since taking power back, in the last election, why has not one Senator had the testicular fortitude to put forth or propose articles of impeachment?

Sadly it is all smoke and mirrors. Maybe we can get it right the next time...

No...but unless you can somehow negate the power of a Pardon I am left wondering is it just the mere symbolic contempt charge you want added to his reputation?

How long did the "Scooter" serve? If you can not charge these treasonous, jack booted thugs after Bush has left office, then anything you do now is symbolic.

It leaves a bad taste in ones mouth. Sorry, the time to do something about these country stealing weasels was two elections ago. When the Senate did absolutely nothing to gut every single military program that Pres. Bush had...They lost thier credibility. They have not offered articles of impeachment, they have spouted high minded ideals, yet there has been NOTHING of substance to any of their ideals.

My friends are still being deployed to the "Sand Box" as it is known in the military. One of my best friends is on his Fourth Deployment.

My sentiments are the same; but in order to move on we must accept and admit the damage that these political thugs and elitists have done in the past so we can work towards eradicating them and their anti-American propgaganda that is continuing to erode whatever remnants left to our dying constitution.

Yes, we have a small segment of our population as repesented by those few who have sunk this story, who do not see an America that respects the will of all its people. They prefer a government that primarily represents the 2 W's, the wealthy and white.
