Certainly, there are many things for which Americans should feel rightfully proud and you've listed some of those here. But as you admit "Is the U.S. of A perfect? No." There are certainly some flaws in our history and policies that we should not be proud of. America's unbelievably low voter turnout rate (ranked 139th out of 172 democratic countries in the world) is one of these less flattering aspects of which we can't be proud.

Michelle Obama's remarks in their entirety address ONLY America's historically low voter turnout. Until this year when Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were eliciting RECORD voter turnout, she had never seen so many citizens actively participating in democratic elections. That's all she said. But the neocon smear machine cited her truncated quote out of context to make it appear as if Michelle said she had nothing to be proud of in America.
A gross exaggeration indeed.
