John, the military as a whole is in pretty good shape when you review things. We're seeing some problems with maintenance. Looking at the Navy, we have the best ships possible. The problem, we're seeing cuts on top of cuts when it comes to the repairs and service. Some have claimed it was the war funding but it's simply not the case. We've shifted money from DoD to Homeland and other security issues. While important, the cuts can be rather scary if you're landing on a carrier or in a sub and something isn't up to specs.
On those serving, you would find a rather large number of us to support the conservative candidates rather than a party. From the men and women in my group, they tend to watch Fox and all try to listen to Rush. Now don't neg me on him. I'm not a fan. As to our children, many are 2nd or 3rd generation military.
As to a draft, most don't want to see it. We want people who want to be in the military, not those forced in.
