Eagles here make nests in high trees. Not picking a fight. Just a matter of fact. But your right about the amount of respect given to the feathers that we hold sacred. THe type of gathering of Eagle feathers you are speaking of is part of a ceremony done by south western tribes. The northern tribes have a whole different way of doing things as do the plains people.
