Pilots Run Out Of Fuel, Pray, Land Near Jesus Sign »
Posted By TimALoftis 1 year, 6 months ago in NewsIt seemed like an almost literal answer to their prayers. When two New Zealand pilots ran out of fuel in a microlight airplane they offered prayers and were able to make an emergency landing in a field coming to rest right next to a sign reading, "Jesus is Lord."

Did the people who were on planes who died in the 9-11 crashes not pray? Or what about all other fatal airplane crashes (such as the minister from Florida and his young son who recently died in a crash)? What about the 51,000 people who just died in China? Did they not pray?
If they DID why were their prayers not answered? That doesn't sound too sweet or faithful to me. If prayers aren't answered in a matter of life and death then whats the point of praying? Isn't god going to do what he wants anyways? Last time I checked christians said the big man up stairs is the one calling the shots - not the other way around.
If these people weren't saved because they DIDN'T pray then how can your call god 'sweet'? If a person doesn't help save the life of another human when it is in their power to do so effortlessly - UNLESS - the person needing saving worships the savior - the person who could have come to thew rescue but didn't would be viewed as the scum of the earth. And rightfully so.

Planes go down all the time. I have had two go down in my back yard in the last 30 years. I'm sure most pilots pray prior to hitting the ground.
The saved child "we prayed" the child found dead "we prayed, God had a better idea"
Hey, how about those Knicks!!

How about this one, a friend of mine, Gail Bliss a Nashville singer who also still did flight attendent, was asked to fill in for a sick performer.
The sick performer was doing the Patsey Kline Story, as we all shoud know Patsey was killed in an airplane accident.
Gail said she would fill in and told the airlines to replace her on her flights. The next day Gail's airplane that she was not on, flight 11 was the first to go into the Trade Towers.

It was the skill of the pilots that allowed them to land safely. Why do worshipers of a fictional being love to belittle people's talent? Talent or skill doesn't exist as far as they are concerned, because ALLMIGHTY GOD did it. Who created that painting? Why, it was a hand guided by God. Who saved that premature baby's life? Was it a doctor? No, it was GAAWWD.

To K10sbride - Actually, it is God who gives us talents and gifts but if these pilots had not "offered up prayers" where do you think they would have landed ... they obviously had enough belief to take that action versus just trusting their own skills.
I'll pray that "fictional being" you reference in your message does the same for you someday so that you arrive at the same place these pilots did before you land somewhere else as well!
God Bless You.

God is living and faithful. Those who live close to Him are often conscious of His Peace and Presence and Divine Intervention. This was not the skill of the pilots alone but an Almighty Power with love intervening. And the Lord gave a sign.

A story like this really makes me wonder about the people who do not believe in God. All of these signs and people being saved by just prayer alone, show that there is a greater being among us. I love this story and I'm very happy that the pilots are safe and healthy.

For believers this only reaffirms our faith in Jesus. Those who don't believe in Him don't understand and only want to diminish this down to human ability, but one day all shall come to know the TRUTH, and those who don't believe will be held accountable for their actions. He already knows who you are, and your callous comments will one day be brought before you and dealt with.

Thank you for posting this story on AOL. This is a testimony for millions to see. Prayers are answered more than we can count every day, but we just don't hear about it. My son in law was on a motorcycle that left the road on a curve, headed for a 30 foot ravine. Before he hit the bottom, he prayed to God to save him and thought of his baby. He was not a Christian. People found him standing where the cycle went off.

Jesus is one hell of a guy. I am flying in a few weeks maybe he can get me an upgrade to first class.
Why did Jesus save these two idiots, but allow people all over the world to starve?
I'll ask Jesus for Saturdays lotto numbers, if I win sign me up as his #1 fan, if not I'll ask the Tooth Fairy.

ColorPurple: U put it so well. We need stories of faith and affirmation in these scary times. Nobody has ever been able to figure out or totally understand reasons for severe human suffering.
Still, we must trust that there is a loving God. To not do so is to walk in darkness and fear. I don't know many truly faithful people who are cowardly.

although I'm open to religion (although not entirely convinced by it), I think of my self more as a realist. Therefore I'd have to say that the pilots landing by the Jesus sign is circumstantial evidence, although the story is a bit charming. But I do have to agree with k10sbride, as being that people do the most work in saving lives and performing "miracles", otherwise why would God allow so much hate, poverty, and misery into His world? my answer would be that people make those things happen, we have the power to make it happen and to stop it, not God.
