Comments for Pilots Run Out Of Fuel, Pray, Land Near Jesus Sign »
Posted By TimALoftis 1 year, 7 months ago in NewsIt seemed like an almost literal answer to their prayers. When two New Zealand pilots ran out of fuel in a microlight airplane they offered prayers and were able to make an emergency landing in a field coming to rest right next to a sign reading, "Jesus is Lord."

Did the people who were on planes who died in the 9-11 crashes not pray? Or what about all other fatal airplane crashes (such as the minister from Florida and his young son who recently died in a crash)? What about the 51,000 people who just died in China? Did they not pray?
If they DID why were their prayers not answered? That doesn't sound too sweet or faithful to me. If prayers aren't answered in a matter of life and death then whats the point of praying? Isn't god going to do what he wants anyways? Last time I checked christians said the big man up stairs is the one calling the shots - not the other way around.
If these people weren't saved because they DIDN'T pray then how can your call god 'sweet'? If a person doesn't help save the life of another human when it is in their power to do so effortlessly - UNLESS - the person needing saving worships the savior - the person who could have come to thew rescue but didn't would be viewed as the scum of the earth. And rightfully so.

Who ever said that living was being rescued? I believe God spares some and not others, but just because someone who believes and prays dies does not change who God is. I imagine that being with God is far better than being any where else I could ever be. Don't try to pervert that in to me saying we should all hope to die, I am just saying that it is a reality we will all face and that everyone has the chance to do something now so that death doesn't have to be something they fear.

So then how do we know that the survivors of this emergency landing were rescued by god? maybe one of them will turn out to be the next hitler... maybe this was the work of the devil.
yet the poster i was responding to was awful quick to praise the 'sweet, good, miraculous, and faithful our lord and savior jesus christ'...

Planes go down all the time. I have had two go down in my back yard in the last 30 years. I'm sure most pilots pray prior to hitting the ground.
The saved child "we prayed" the child found dead "we prayed, God had a better idea"
Hey, how about those Knicks!!

How about this one, a friend of mine, Gail Bliss a Nashville singer who also still did flight attendent, was asked to fill in for a sick performer.
The sick performer was doing the Patsey Kline Story, as we all shoud know Patsey was killed in an airplane accident.
Gail said she would fill in and told the airlines to replace her on her flights. The next day Gail's airplane that she was not on, flight 11 was the first to go into the Trade Towers.

It was the skill of the pilots that allowed them to land safely. Why do worshipers of a fictional being love to belittle people's talent? Talent or skill doesn't exist as far as they are concerned, because ALLMIGHTY GOD did it. Who created that painting? Why, it was a hand guided by God. Who saved that premature baby's life? Was it a doctor? No, it was GAAWWD.

To K10sbride - Actually, it is God who gives us talents and gifts but if these pilots had not "offered up prayers" where do you think they would have landed ... they obviously had enough belief to take that action versus just trusting their own skills.
I'll pray that "fictional being" you reference in your message does the same for you someday so that you arrive at the same place these pilots did before you land somewhere else as well!
God Bless You.

God is living and faithful. Those who live close to Him are often conscious of His Peace and Presence and Divine Intervention. This was not the skill of the pilots alone but an Almighty Power with love intervening. And the Lord gave a sign.

A story like this really makes me wonder about the people who do not believe in God. All of these signs and people being saved by just prayer alone, show that there is a greater being among us. I love this story and I'm very happy that the pilots are safe and healthy.

For believers this only reaffirms our faith in Jesus. Those who don't believe in Him don't understand and only want to diminish this down to human ability, but one day all shall come to know the TRUTH, and those who don't believe will be held accountable for their actions. He already knows who you are, and your callous comments will one day be brought before you and dealt with.

Thank you for posting this story on AOL. This is a testimony for millions to see. Prayers are answered more than we can count every day, but we just don't hear about it. My son in law was on a motorcycle that left the road on a curve, headed for a 30 foot ravine. Before he hit the bottom, he prayed to God to save him and thought of his baby. He was not a Christian. People found him standing where the cycle went off.

Jesus is one hell of a guy. I am flying in a few weeks maybe he can get me an upgrade to first class.
Why did Jesus save these two idiots, but allow people all over the world to starve?
I'll ask Jesus for Saturdays lotto numbers, if I win sign me up as his #1 fan, if not I'll ask the Tooth Fairy.

ColorPurple: U put it so well. We need stories of faith and affirmation in these scary times. Nobody has ever been able to figure out or totally understand reasons for severe human suffering.
Still, we must trust that there is a loving God. To not do so is to walk in darkness and fear. I don't know many truly faithful people who are cowardly.

For the well treatment and welfare of the weak, sick and poor we are indeed responsible according to the teachings of the Jesus Christ.
Do ye as ye would have done to you.
So what do we do with the Masochists?
Not mocking but true...When can a True Christian raise the Sword?
It's all about Love and Sacrifice...No man must be a doormat.
WE must all have Faith that each is equal to all others under the law.
And that responsibility exceeds religion...while answering it's greatest truth.
You will not tell me who to or not to worship.
I think it's back there in the Constitution and all...somewhere.
I would love some commentary on that. :)

although I'm open to religion (although not entirely convinced by it), I think of my self more as a realist. Therefore I'd have to say that the pilots landing by the Jesus sign is circumstantial evidence, although the story is a bit charming. But I do have to agree with k10sbride, as being that people do the most work in saving lives and performing "miracles", otherwise why would God allow so much hate, poverty, and misery into His world? my answer would be that people make those things happen, we have the power to make it happen and to stop it, not God.

People need to realize that God is at work 24-7, the devil is also at work 24-7. only belivers know that God does have his hand in things that happen, they be a lot worse if God was not there. I know that he has helped me so much. Even though I am not worthy of his help. God loves us all weather you believe in him or not God still loves you and wants you to be one of hios children. If you have not truly tried God, how can you knock him?

I did tried, didn't work for me very well, anyway I really don't want anyone to give up his/her faith, if it works for you, believe me I'm really fine with it. What I really don't get is how do you determine when does god interfere and when he doesn't.

I speak to the believers who have read this article. Do not waist your time arguing to people who do not believe. This story did not touch their hearts and God shall try and touch them another time. Instead rejoice for God reaches people in many different ways and I bet my life that this story has saved and touched many others. For this stories purpose is save those who are lost who don't want to be and for those of us who already believe, it helped us believe that much more. Amen!

ok...we here in America have to rent storage units because we have to much "junk" in our houses and garages to where our cars have to sit in the driveway. Why does God allow kids to starve or why does God allow us to be selfish and self-centered to not send a single box of rice to someone who doesnt even have clothes much less a car, house, garage, etc. Maybe these starving kids are a chance for some of us to help the needy. Show our faith to others. Christ showed us the most gracious way to live...selfless. Giving ourselves to others. I can't say that about any other "religion"

I don't understand all of the comotion concerning this story. What matters is that the pilots are alive and well, not who believes in God and who doesn't. Christians criticizing non-believers and saying they "need a brain," doesn't help anything, and non-believers castigating Christians for believing that God might have helped those two pilots only causes more problems. It's nice to believe that something bigger than us is watching and looking out for us, whether or not you believe it or don't is irrelevant; it's still a comforting thought to go to sleep to.
The pilots survived. Let's agree to be happy for them, not mad at others.

I've known some people who Jesus healed. But for some reason none of the amputees have ever had a limb, or even a finger regenerated. I wonder why Jesus does not do this. He can get rid of cancers, heal illnesses, bring folks back from the dead, but he can't/won't regrow a limb?

An excellent question. Spontaneous remissions of cancer and other unexpected recoveries from illness happen among all religions (and non-religions). Frankly, science doesn't know why...yet.
Theologians would say God doesn't re-grow a limb because such an obvious intervention would constitute 'proof' of God, and, well, God exists without proof, therefore proven faith is not faith at all.

The answer to the world's suffering isin the word of God. Matthew 24 tells us the things that we must sufferon this earth before Jesus returns for His believers. Take heed that noman deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying I am Christ; and deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye not be troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet, For nation shall rise against nation, and Kingdom against Kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places...and this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations...For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect...Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth; behold he is in the secret chambers, believe it not I can't fit it all, really read all of Matt.24 or Luke 21I pray for understandin

There are many questions that can't be answered. I don't understand why skeptics don't really consider the idea of a god because there are so many problems in the world. There are a lot of problems, that's indubitable, but there is a lot of good too. And i think that's what God has a hand in. And i don't mean a direct hand; i think he helps us better ourselves--helps us make life more beautiful and easier to cope with.
Life is wonderful... The friendships, the laughter, the love, the experiences...
I just can't fathom why anyone would take time out of their day to vituperate someone else for their beliefs. As long as your happy and having fun, you should believe in what you want and do what you want to do.
And if there is a god, which i believe there is, i think that's all he really wants. To see us loving and laughing, sharing and smiling.

I agree wholeheartedly. While I am an atheist, I respect people of faith in general. We're all out for the same thing, I hope.
I think all people are basically good so I get my boxers in a bunch when people start claiming superiority over others based on their beliefs (or lack thereof). I've had people tell me to my face that I cannot be a truly moral person unless I accept Jesus into my life.

My point is the answers are in the word of God, If we seek him we will find Him and miracles and wonders never cease. Man did not hang the moon and the sun and the stars and the mountains, he does not promise that there will be no suffering, he is not a wizard or a genie that grants our every wish, He is God a loving fogiving father that takes care of our needs until it is our time to die and be at peace for an eternity with Him for those who finally get it. Love thy neighbor as thyself.

Do you guys know what a micro-lite plane is? It is little more than a hang glider with a small motor. I know this because I fly them. They land in small, unprepared fields all the time. It would have been MORE of a miracle if it HAD crashed. Why are folks so quick to give credit to God for what is obviously a coincidence and certainly NOT a miracle and yet never question why the huge majority of prayers go unanswered. Take a guess at how many of our brave servicemen prayed for safekeeping shortly before they were killed in Iraq. Sorry, but nothing fails like prayer.

I love the article. I am Catholic and my husband is Agnostic. I shared it with him, like I do other articles that are in my opinion "Messages From The Lord". On this one my husband actually said "WOW, that's messed up" When I asked him if he thought this was another coincidence he responded "Well, it could be but, I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't"
Coming from him that means alot. I am glad this article was posted.

The bible tells us this: 1 Cor. 1:18 The teaching about the cross is foolishness to those who are being lost, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Cor. 1:27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and he chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
This story may seem average of foolish, but the Lord uses all things to glorify himself. Whether or not you choose to do that will not matter, SOMEONE WILL! Our Lord Jesus' presence will never be hidden; on the other hand, the minds and hearts of many will continue to be closed to His love.
I'll leave you with Romans 1:20 There are things about him that people cannot see-his eternal power and all the things that make him God. But since the beginning of the world those things have been easy to understand by what God has made. So people have no excuse for the bad things they do.

I do not presume to know or understand why God does what he does! and neither should you. We cannot know the mind of the infinite, neither can we know what plans God had for those people in the 9/11 disaster - or any other disaster! What I do know is that God uses each of us for his purposes and in his time.

why would you want to tolerate let alone glorify a 'god' who USES his people - your words. not mine. christians believe god is all knowing and all powerful. yet he ALLOWS (if there actually is a god mind you) untold horrors to exist in this world. why? you cant come up with a good reason. you use the cop out that we cant 'understand' - but rest assured god is a 'loving' god. if you cant understand his intentions how do you know he is loving? how do you know he is not a cruel son of a bitch who makes satan look like the good guy? how do you know all the pain and suffering in this world isnt just for god's amusement?
you cant have it both ways you know. either you understand his intentions or you have no idea what they may be.
Christians speak of humans as god's children - his 'creations'. and yet if a parent figure would give blind indifference to the welfare of his children in the way god does they would be branded monsters.

I wish that there wasn't so much misunderstanding on prayer. Prayer is simply a petition or conversation with the Lord. It's not a magic bottle that you rub and poof, there's your wish. The Lord allows things to come about that are in line with His will.
There's suffering in the world because of sin. Suffering comes to both saved and unsaved. There will always be terrible circumstances until this world ends. Our relationship with Christ doesn't keep us from difficulties or pain, it simply provides us with the strength to endure.
Think about Jesus' last 3 and a half years on earth. He prayed and He suffered. The key was not the escape of sorrow or death-which we know He did not escape in His human body but the full circle of God's will being accomplishe. That beinging to provide the forgiveness and eternal safety from the sin that causes the terrible problems of this life. To Bring Glory To Himself as #1.

I tried to be reasonable by basically saying I was neither for nor against God and religion. However after reading several of people's comments whom have been written by people who believe in God and Jesus Christ, I find those people completely contradictory to what their faith states. Jesus said to love thy enemy yet I constantly see rude, or ignorant comments directed in hate to people who don't share your Christian views. I do not think that people(who don't share your views)are trying to make you athiest, but are expressing how they feel about God.You people are like missionaries, forcing your views on those poeple! And you aren't even fallowing the word of God,yet you basically call yourselfs true Christians,It is the very first commandment of the big 10 that says there is and will only be one God.Yet you people truly believe that Jesus is the son of God, therefore there're 2 Gods! Polytheists',you are violating your own faith! I guess the Jewish faith is then the only true faith.

Besides when I said that I was not entirely convinced I wasn't talking Just about the Christian faith but all faiths. Besides not matter what you say you techinically are still disobeying God's word.

When bad things happen and good things seem to happen in the name of God, we must remember that God is sovereign and He will us all things for His glory. Good people die, bad people seem to get away with very bad things. Comments presente by "Dont beleive" show a true side to faith and faith is like the wind, you know it is there but you cannot see it. Some people need to see but some still do not believe.

By the way the bible cleary states the times we are living in and everything thats going to occur in the ends of time for those of you who dont believe in God but for some reason Know a whole lot about the christian faith and the bible try reading the book of revelation and the profecies of Daniel and ezequiel to find out whats going to happen to this earth and everyone who doesnt and didnt beilieve in the Lord Jesus Christ who came down to this earth to die for everyone of the sins we were all going to commit in our lifetime. forget the aruguments and philisophical ideas and start seeing whats happening to the world around us. Its the bible being fulfilled. Jesus is coming to recieve all those who believed in Him. Be prepared for His coming . God bless everyone here. Especially Those who dont know HIm and may he perform a miracle in your life so that hopefully by his mercy and grace you can be saved GB

How do you know I haven't professed to God's word. I had a Mikvah, but I still am not sure about religion. I think it is fine to have a faith, it just seems as though alot of believers of certain faiths are ignorant (example: you)and try to force their ideas onto other people.
