Posted By Deidre 6 months ago in NewsSen. Hillary Rodham Clinton won Puerto Rico's Democratic presidential primary by a substantial margin Sunday, NBC News projected. But Clinton's newly defiant campaign against her own party leaders may have been blunted by low turnout in the island territory.

Obama's federal lobbyist campaign worker tied to PR couldn't sway the PR vote?
If it were McCain losing an election, you can bet Propeller's Obama girl and his lackeys would have it plastered all over as was done when he won with a "mere" three-quarters of votes in Pennsylvania in a race he's had won for months.
Yet, Obama continues to lose nominating elections. This time in a Hispanic election. If he can't unite his own party, how's he supposed to unite the nation?

All the new or first time voters that came out for Obama is McCain's worst nightmare. Obama's organization skills and leadership done that, not the old Democratic establishment that the Clinton's control. Hillary can continue but beyond emotional self edification her sound bites on experience, ready day one and phones ringing fade with people that make decisions based on data that show doablity, effectiveness and embraced leadership; which favor Obama. The educated voter, I mean those who really look into the facts, not just someone who went to school, see Obama is more prepared to do the job. Some, like HC, refer to speeches and sound bites, while they use sound bites to back-bite. I am not looking for a race, gender or religious based candidate. It maybe secondary bonus. Look at the management skill in the campaign organization; Hillary have problems with that little responsibility. Get over the emotion, vote for change.

Once again wishing ill on America. When are you ever going to stop? A McCain election would be disastrous for the future of America. Imagine being somewhere around 15 trillion in debt by the end of his term? Thus we would have to pay around 1 trillion in interest annually. We are already paying over 400 billion. This will happen if we keep embracing the neocon foreign policy. Nothing will be done about alternative energies or the infrastructure. The fat cats will continue to bloat. Only the cause of "total war" matters. Cost will be of no concern in that regard.

Has anyone notice that since PA Obama's been trounced, slammed, blown out, 40 point lose here, 2 to 1 in PR. And that's just among Dems.
What happens when everyone, even knuckle dragging, gun totting, bible thumping bigots that make up 70% of the country votes?
It sure looks like to wheels are off team Obama

Has anyone noticed that despite having locked up the Republican nomination for MONTHS now, McCain is still losing one-quarter of the Republican votes to candidates who officially stopped campaigning MONTHS ago?

Well ybdogsct, according to the media and your party Obama has already locked up the Democratic nomination, yet hes losing by 25% is some of these past few primaries. I think its more troubling that Obama is losing by an absurd percentage than it is for McCain to be winning by 50% .

CLOUD:
"Well ybdogsct, according to the media and your party Obama has already locked up the Democratic nomination"
WRONG.
Obama has NOT locked up the Democratic nomination. If you had bothered to read the article (and it's clear from your comments that you haven't), DNC rules specify that a candidate needs 2118 delegates to "lock up the nomination." Obama has 2071, and Clinton has 1915.
From the Article:
"Obama gained 17 delegates, leaving him 47 short of the 2,118 needed. Clinton has 1915.5."
In a race as close to this one where the candidates are separated by less than 2% of the delegate count (Obama with 51.9% of the delegates and Clinton with 48.1%), it's understandable for Clinton to have some big wins (Puerto Rico, Kentucky, W Virginia), but you conveniently neglect to mention that Obama to has enjoyed some recent big wins too (Oregon, N. Carolina, Mississippi).
Next time, try to get your facts straight before posting.

I gotta tell ya ... I laught right out loud at your second sentence. "As a independent it's hard to see any of these POLITICIANS doing anything good for this country.... "
You? An Independent?
Good one DL. Either you are so deluded as to belong in Moccasin Bend ... or you really believe that you are independent simply because you represent the extreme right anti-intellectual, anti-moral terrorist fringe of America.
Poeple with your lack of values and perspicacity have been the ruination of the once proud Republican party. For you represent that 'highly outspoken', loud, obnoxious cabal for whom ... NO candidate is Fascist enough for you.

Everyone in the media, and most people within your party agree that Obama is going to win the nomination. Thats all I meant by locked up, I know he hasn't hit the dem nomination magic number yet. But just because he doesn't have the "official" nomination yet, doesn't mean he isn't the nominee.

Wrong again. Hispanics OVERWHELMINGLY favor Obama over McCain.
http://www.ppic.org/content/pubs/survey/S_508MB...
"The latest PPIC poll shows Obama with a 68% approval rating among Latinos, Clinton with 72%, and McCain with 38%. If the general election were held today, 69% of Latinos polled would vote for Obama, compared to only 20% for McCain."

"In a poll conducted by the nation's most popular Spanish-language radio program, 59% of the 819 surveyed plan to back Sen. Clinton, 36% support Sen. Obama, and only 2 percent favor McCain."
Exit polls have shown that Obama can win over Clinton supporters if he becomes the nominee. McCain, on the other hand, can't seem to win over Republicans and he's ALREADY the nominee.

DANM: "Oh wow your so proud of OBama."
NOWHERE in the posts above did I post gushing praise of Obama. In fact, I would just as happily vote for Clinton, Edwards, Biden, Dodd, or the McCain of 2000. No, the corrections I post in response to the unsubstantiated, misleading, or erroneous posts from your ilk are ONLY meant to inform, NOT to persuade or dissuade, which is why I include documentation to support my arguments.
NOWHERE in my posts above did I try to persuade members to vote for Obama. NOWHERE in my posts above did I try to dissuade members from voting for McCain. The ONLY POINT my posts on this thread have done is address the false assumption that Obama would not be able to win Hispanic Clinton supporters should he become the nominee. Clearly, the data shows that Obama CAN win over former Clinton supporters, and I post DOCUMENTATION to support this argument -- something you clearly have yet to learn, "dude."

DamnLibs, choose the source that is balanced and you too will find out that Obama policy plans are more applicable than others. The question of a collapsed dollar is huge. Being happy we don't have a 'W' stooge back in the White House to ensure this is the goal. McCain is a conflicted Con, wants to be something that the Core Republican Party won't stand for. Will he really be walking Ellen down the isle? You get my point on the support thing?

Obama lost the Hispanic vote in Puerto Rico, and you claimed it was a "big problem" because Obama would not be able to win these Hispanic voters over in the general election. Obviously, the data I cited contradicts your unsubstantiated bloviation.
It's telling you provide ZERO evidence to support your own "arguments."

Cloud, think about it; Obama has won and you don't see the winning strategy in your face. Save the money and use the time to plan for the important things. Beating and re-beating Hillary don't make a lick of sense, does it? McCain is smart enough to see it will be Obama to face off with. So if McCain isn't spending money on Hillary, why should Obama, knowing he has to move on to stay one step ahead?

The point is Leemck, with an overwhelming majority of experts and democrats saying Obama is the nominee, and Obama himself knows he is the nominee, there shouldn't be such strong votes against him in the remaining primaries. Its just a bad omen for the general election.

Blackace . . . it's a better than average chance the Cons know what you know, and are worried rightfully so. LoL. Some will hate change but unless we get some of the incompetent political appointees out of government and put professionals back in, we are done for. Hillary can't catch up without compromising to do the same, likely done promised the Lincoln Bedroom out again. McCain can't move anything without appeasement, so he is stuck with many of the same Family and Friends 'W' or the Cons put in there, that is 'doing a fine job' on us. Obama is the best choice to clean house. FEMA run by someone who's background was in horse racing. Worried, a lot of empty suits know the gig is up. Vote for change and kick the bums out.

Noticed that by PA, Obama had numerical superiority? The smart use of time and money for him is on super delegates which Team Obama has been successful. Leave Hillary to play catch up in a losing position. That's a Harvard grad playing for success not an image that plays in to his opponent's hand. Smart wouldn't you say? He can spend the money in the General election and not be broke, unlike Hillary who didn't plan too well in the primary. She was the entitled winner, remember, but is struggling to catch up; how is Obama behind? Obama is winning, forget the hype. Vote for change, he is smart and organized enough to handle the office of President.

Here in Florida, we let soldiers vote TWICE!
Well, we put em through Boot Camp first, indoctrinatin em as to how Republicans are their 'Friend'.
Course, "Friend" means: Republicans are gointa cut fundin for Injured Soldiers, Deny Education Benefits, and offer the LOWEST cost of living wages possible ... AND ... on top of all that ... extend soldier tours of duty by many, many months!!!
Then, we get em to send in Absentee Ballots, even though they aint verifiable, and voila! Election to Goerge!
Any doubt?
Shure, its a 'bank shot off the rim', but Referee Antonin Scalia says "NUTHIN BUT NET" for GW!

The republican brand is rather tarnished now but as a republican I prefer Clinton to the candidate who celebrated Black Liberation Theology for 2 decades, BLT is a prerequisite to Marxism.
Obama cannot win the Latino vote if thats not obvious to you go on to reading the next post. Any party which would give more weight to the results in Kansas, Wyoming & Utah which are unwinnable & have a combined population of 4 million than they give to Fla, Ohio, & Pennsylvania with a population of perhaps 35 million deserve someone unsuited for the presidency like Obama. He is the weaker candidate and McCain has a better chance with him running but its still 50/50.

"The problem is not with Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, said respected Latino political analysts, who rejected as a too-easy stereotype the suggestion that Latino voters would not vote for Obama because he is a black man. Clinton had a 15-year head start on Obama in cultivating support in Latino communities thanks to the popularity of her husband, who was able to maintain a 70% approval rating among Latino voters
Falcón and others pointed to several indicators of Obama's popularity among Latinos, noting the large and enthusiastic crowds he attracted in Latino neighborhoods. Obama, meanwhile, points to polling trends that show his popularity among Latinos rising over time, saying, 'As Latinos get to know me, we do better.'
In exit polls, Latino Democrats gave Obama high marks for his leadership qualities and the freshness of his ideas, and said they would back him in the general election should he win the Democratic nomination."

Lum-ch, Black liberation is the result of what? Are you so uninformed; folk was born under the cabbage leaf and decided to do the liberation thing, uh? That same liberation is the source for changes in civil rights that makes America a better place for all Americans. In the 60's it was liberation theology that called for equal rights, remember; which was predicted to destroy the nation. Now, there are all sorts of laws that protect people by gender, sexual preference, age and so forth. I know a person who's skin is of color, isn't simple enough to damn the very source that gives them a chance or saves the people that fought in EVERY war and struggled to lift themselves up from slavery. That's silly, real silly. If this opinion comes from someone who is the beneficiary of ill gotten gain, then the comment is just propaganda by a thief. Biblically, what the thief comes to do, is best understood.

The smart thing is to win the primary, save the money and turn Hillary to support him in the general election. Obama policy will uplift Hispanic, Black, White, Middle Easterners, and the rest. Let's talk about saving the nation. Race and gender interests or an image, against the nation's survival, are not on the same level. Obama policies are analyzed to be the best for the nation. Don't love any of these people but select the best skill set and organizer; that's not experience alone. In the campaigns, other than Obama, the others have problems handling a far less complex leadership problem.

leemck - this is only a small part of Obama's plans, I think that you should REALLY look at his promises:
Barack Obama's Plan
Expand Access to Jobs
* Help Americans Grab a Hold of and Climb the Job Ladder: Obama will invest $1 billion over five years in transitional jobs and career pathway programs that implement proven methods of helping low-income Americans succeed in the workforce.
* Create a Green Jobs Corps: Obama will create a program to directly engage disadvantaged youth in energy efficiency opportunities to strengthen their communities, while also providing them with practical skills in this important high-growth career field.

V * Improve Transportation Access to Jobs: As president, Obama will work to ensure that low-income Americans have transportation access to jobs. Obama will double the federal Jobs Access and Reverse Commute program to ensure that additional federal public transportation dollars flow to the highest-need communities and that urban planning initiatives take this aspect of transportation policy into account.
* Reduce Crime Recidivism by Providing Ex-Offender Supports: Obama will work to ensure that ex-offenders have access to job training, substance abuse and mental health counseling, and employment opportunities. Obama will also create a prison-to-work incentive program and reduce barriers to employment.

Make Work Pay for All Americans
* Expand the Earned Income Tax Credit: Obama will increase the number of working parents eligible for EITC benefits, increase the benefits available to parents who support their children through child support payments, increase benefits for families with three or more children, and reduce the EITC marriage penalty, which hurts low-income families.
* Create a Living Wage: Obama will raise the minimum wage and index it to inflation to make sure that full-time workers can earn a living wage that allows them to raise their families and pay for basic needs such as food, transportation, and housing.
* Provide Tax Relief: Obama will provide all low and middle-income workers a $500 Making Work Pay tax credit to offset the payroll tax those workers pay in every paycheck. Obama will also eliminate taxes for seniors making under $50,000 per year.
