Entertaining take on summer "vacation" -- great for kids, but for parents...not so much? Author knows she's being politically incorrect (wishes she weren't) but...she can't help it. Funny, but also real; and at least parts of it lots of parents can probably relate to.

Ha! The great thing about parenthood is that our memories are kinder than the reality of the past.

I had very fond memories of summer vacation when I was a child - carefree and running wild. And I think my mom enjoyed the fact that I was rarely home and out exploring the world around me. I realize back when I was growing up it was probably a safer world or else, I was very lucky.
