The original link worked for me. I saw this (was it you who posted it?) on another thread yesterday. It does an excellent job debunking the rumors about Obama.
And you just can't beat that Ray Charles version of "America the Beautiful."

Yeah, lets all run out and buy those chinese flag pins.
OOPS, I mean American flag pins made in China. LMAO
And lets not forget to stand with our hands over our hearts during the national anthem. I salute.
Lets make sure that saying the pledge of allegiance is more important than living the pledge and what it means.
Hypocrites!!!!! I had a pledge of allegiance hanging on my wall from a Mad magazine. It said.
I will pledge allegiance to the United States of America. When it is one nation under God. Indivisible and with liberty and justice for all. ...
Or something like that.
I hung it on my wall when I came home. The gist of the whole thing was that we can say the pledge of allegiance and they a just words.
Or we can live the pledge of allegiance and they are ideals and a way of life.
I choose the latter.

Our nation, our media, our ADHD.
Our country can be fallin down around us, we can be fightin against the extreme moral vacancy of the Christian Conservative movement ... and all the media will give us is reports bout FLAG PINS and Rumors of Suspect Patriotism of Barack.
THIS ... in light of the PASS the media gave to Goerge W's attempts to evade service in Vietnam ... and his subsequent failure to even bother finishin his National Guard requirements.
From my vantage point ... this is certainly proof that the Neo-Conservative movement has Media as it's sidekick.

This will be the most entertaining election of my lifetime, for sure. It's hard to imagine how McCain's (David) will be able to compete with the style of Obama (Goliath). The masses love his tune, but have yet to listen to the lyrics.
We will be accused of being racist if we are for him or against him. We know his support has come from blacks, liberal elitists and students. That's not enough for November.
We're going to find out something about ourselves in the next few months ... I'm glad I'm around to see it.

Thats kinda sad that you see things so bleakly.
---Blacks ---
I mean, it aint liek Obama is PANDERIN to blacks, liberal elitists and students. I think its just that blacks tend to stand behind Democrats because Republicans have fought against their every opportunity for 60 years.
---Libural Ellitists ---
Liburals of course will vote for Obama because we are tired of American bein turned into a Militarist Nation and Welfare Nation for the Wealthy.
(But lets face it, we Christian Conservative dont need to qualify Liburals with the moniker "elitists" cause we think they are ALL elitist cause they are so ding dang smahter than we are ... what with their ability to weigh all sides and stuff.)
--- Students ---
It stands to reason that Students will shy away from McCain. After all, GW, the edjamacation presdient has forced cutbacks to Music & Art programs across the nation caused many of their friends to wind up dead or wounded in Iraq.

"McCain's (David) will be able to compete with the style of Obama (Goliath)."
Wait: is McCain David (the underdog ) facing Obama the Goliath (big guy)?
Because right now they are about tied in the polls. And you also say Obama's base is limited to the weirdos, so McCain should be the Goliath.
But if you are talking about McCain's STYLE versus Obama's STYLE, then you are saying McCain has the teeny-tiny style against the hulking style-brute Obama, -
except that you seem to compare McCain HIMSELF with the STYLE of OBAMA, which is metaphore-mixing apples and orange pcs.
There, simonsez; I have CRUSHED your argument.

wtf?
let me get this straight. you're saying that of the two men running for prez of the USA... it's the white republican man called john mccain who you think is wee little david with the slingshot, and it's the black man called barack hussein obama who's supposed to be the big bad goliath? yeah, like that happens every four years. what alternate reality have you been in the last few centuries?

Great Ray Charles soundtrack! I didn't know so many "serious lies" were "being promulgated" about poor Barack. My problems with Barack Obama have nothing to do with lapel flag pins or the like. In order of importance, they have everything to do with what I believe he is likely to do with 1) U.S. foreign policy and 2) domestic policy.

What is it that Bush has done so well that has you so fearful that Obama or anyone else couldn't do as well or better? I ask this because I'm still reeling from 2004 in which we were given the most bogus and dishonest reasons why John Kerry was unacceptable and I fear that history is repeating itself. It won't matter who the Democrat is. If he or she doesn't want to continue in Iraq, then the world as we know it will come to an end. Those on the right are sure of this and nothing else matters if we can't stay in this war (which "we" actually aren't in, because if "we" were, we'd be out of Iraq in a hot minute).

OmegaGnosis, I just want to say, I hope you dont think the BEGINNIN of the video is directed at you.
Im referrin to the line at the beginnin of the video where it says:
"There are poeple who take rumors and embellish them in a way that can be devastatin."
I know you been busy tryin to promote any scurrilous innuendo and ruthlessly calculated rumor you can put into cyberspace in order to cast a jingoistic hatred towards Obama ... but believe me, any association between the video and your methods is purely coincidence.
And thanks for SINKIN the story ... and your doppelganger Nixie too.

Great submit Goppy, this video should be made into a tv commercial if you ask me. Far too many people are still buying into these lies about him. Sure, nothing will convince the one's using these as excuses to not vote for a black man. But many others are against Obama solely due to these false accusations being made.

about the video, there are people who think Obama is some sort of sleeper agent for Islam, that he is just pretending to be 'good' until he can get in the WH, and then look out! Whitey will be hung in the street and the scimitar-wielding muslim hordes will have the red carpet rolled out for them.
I tried asking folks to articulate these fears as I sarcastically did in the last sentence, but I don't think they can. I think it's just vague anxiety and misgivings [in some cases a wee touch of neurosis, I'm sure].or maybe it's NOWD syndrome
this is the malady that makes people break out in a cold sweat at the thought of a person in the big chair who is
Not an
Old
White
Dude.
as for candidates pretending to be one thing and being another, that should actually give them comfort, as that is SOP['no nation-building' 'read my lips' etc]
I may be a complacent fellow, but I do not fear Obama instituting Jim Snow laws, or putting on a turban at his inauguration and saying 'Aha! Fooled you!

So, what do YOU think, protoham?
The U.S. has always been a mix of various political approaches--that's helped it survive all these years. I don't see Obama as a pure socialist any more than the U.S. is purely socialist. He does believe in some types of wealth redistribution, but so does Bush. Look at the taxpayer dollars we pour into faith-based funding and school vouchers--clear examples of wealth redistribution.
We pool resources on many things, socialist or not, to achieve economies of scale, and the question is, do we currently focus on the right mix, given the state we find ourselves in? Is war spending worth the result? No child left behind? Abstinence-only education?

HMMACE:
1) Half of his family Muslim? His father's side was Muslim. His parents were divorced at a young age and he was raised by the other side.
2) Yes, it's a lie that Obama belonged to an "Anti-American church" for 20 years.
3) Yes, it's a lie based on absolutely NO FACTS that Obama and his pastor took trips overseas with Farrakhan. Show me a link for that one.
4) Yes, it's a lie that "one of his close friends" is a Weatherman. William Ayres was a Weatherman, the group that bombed the Pentagon in 1972. When Obama was 10 years old. Ayres is NOT a close friend of Obama's--he is someone Obama worked with in for the good of their South Side community. They served on the board of directors of the Woods Fund along with 7 other directors, and know each other solely through that connection. Ayres is now--36 years later--a well-respected community activist who works with politicians of all stripes.

Gopp, I'm late to the table, however (and please forgive me if I'm being redundant), the MO of the Repubs will be to exploit two major underlying fears/prejudices about black people among many whites:
blacks aren't as patriotic as whites
they're disgruntled, hate whites, and are therefore highly unreliable in re furthering the good of the majority.
O. was "non-racial" until Wright stepped in; his row-to- hoe, in my opinion, should involve endless, mostly sotto voce reassurances that he can be trusted to love America and all Americans--to be, in every way, non-provocative.
Which will have to stand the test of the many who will try to supply a (poisonous) counter-narrative.

Not a problem my friend from across the aisle.
Yes, one might have anticipated this tack used by those on the right.
Just a couple days ago, OmegaGnosis submitted a scurrilous little story calculated to fan that age old 'Uppity Blacks are goin ta take over the plantation' mentality.
It was very slick. I assume it will be the definin issue for many on the right. Right Wing Media will stir this pot that ... "No, it aint us White poeple who are racist ... it is ... it always HAS been ... the black man who is racist against us whites."
And, as usual, there will be a certain percentage of Less Than Sophisticated Right Wingers who will buy into this scam because it feeds and nourishes their feelings of non-specific self loathin ... ... ... sad.

My concern, from every comment that I've read here, is the simple fact that no President is exclusive to the policies they want in place. The President needs the support of a Governmental body in order to accomplish anything. Their first term is a re-election campaign. What a waste of 4 years of Policy time. If re-elected, the ones who care what the President does their second term, are the ones in their party that want to take their place without cleaning up too much of their predecessors mess, or the other party glad they made the mess. But make no mistake, you can quote all the expensive, time-consuming governmental reports you want and it still has the same conclusion. The President, whomever we elect, is at the mercy of their staff and a governmental body and what they allow that President to know and do, and the reverse as well. We are the unfortunate watchdog, with no time to watch, if we are lucky enough to actually have a job, and surviving. We are at their mercy.

With all due respect, mom ... I think you are wrong.
And I can prove it to you GRAPHICALLY.
Here, check out this graph. It displays our goverment surplus and deficits from 1960 onward.
http://www.uuforum.org/deficit.htm
As you can see, since Ronald Reagan ... arguably the first Neo-Conservative ... each Republican has plunged our nation DEEPLY into debt.
This is because a central tenet of Neo-Conservatism is MASSIVE SPENDIN ... ESPECIALLY on anything military ... without regard to the health of our economy.

BTW, Would you at least CONSIDER usin the RETURN kee occasionally? I have a hard tiem followin your commentary.

Yes, Ani, you're right, as usual: O. IS the devil.
If I were you, I'd make sure my windows are tightly shut at night--and of course, hide the silverware!
And do keep your firearm arsenal at the ready!
Thanks for helping me make my point, just above.
