Let me get this straight: at Hooters, they MAKE you wear a push-up bra, hot pants, silky pantyhose, a skimpy, tight shirt, and I'm pretty sure they tell you this up front, and you STILL have the nerve to complain about unwanted attention AFTER you filled out the application and got the job?? Are you on drugs??!! Well, gimmie some!!
Tell you what you do, sweetheart: next time you go to work, refuse to wear your Hooters uniform (that's right, it's a work uniform) and see where that gets you. Or, go work for some other restaurant that doesn't require you to wear skimpy outfits. My ex-fiance worked as a waitress for nearly 2 decades at a regular restaurant and made some pretty damn good money doing it!! She wore a white button-down shirt, and black vest and black pants, and she only worked 2 nights a week and STILL came home with over $200.00 per week!! Do you make that much at Hooters showing off your ******? When's the last time you saw a man work at Hooters in that skimpy outfit?

Not to sound condescending, but the word is "piece", not "peice". While I can appreciate your frustration, you need to keep in mind that this is a free country, and you possess (I hope) free will. You choose to work at Hooters, and based on the name of the establishment and their uniforms, being viewed as an object comes with the territory. If being viewed that way disturbs you so much, then you have the right to get out of the territory, and seek employment elsewhere. I mentor teens who are on juvenile probation, and I'll tell you what I tell them: You are known by the company you keep. Your complaint is akin to Playboy Playmates complaining that men only view them as sex objects. If you wish to be taken seriously, maybe you should find a career where people won't focus so much on your physical attributes.

Sorry but I'm gonna have to agree with the other comments. You work at HOOTERS. In case you didn't know, "hooters" is a slang term referring to the boobs on your chest. So by working at a place called HOOTERS you should know that people, especially men, are going to come there to look at you and gawk at you. And have you never noticed how skimpy the outfits are that you wear? Tight white tank tops and short shorts that could almost qualify as underwear? You aren't hiding anything so why do you get so mad when people look? It's implied in your job description. You're complaining to the wrong group of people, honey. And personally, I think it would be harder to work at a grocery store than to work at Hooters. Unless you're even slightly under par of having a perfect body. Everyone does have a right to respect, but when you work at an establishment that is know for men going there for the HOOTERS then you are going to have to expect to be treated that way. I am a man,I go to Hooter's because it's the only place you can go to eat and look at "Hott" looking waitresses,who are also excellent at what they do, and it's the only place that you can have fun at and eat great food. I admit that I may look at the Girls like their a piece of meat,(when my Wife is not with Me)that I would like to eat But it's with the greatest respect for what they do.I also admit that I prefer the prettier girls to the not so nice looking one's, but I would never let that keep me from having a great time never-the-less. I especially appreciate Hooters and the waitresses,because they do the job few waitresses could ever handle, espcially as politely and coutiously as they have all ways been to my family and I. So I hope that Hooters will always be a successful restaurant and that the Hooter's girls get more positive appreciation for what they do, In fact I am going to Hooter's right now and thank them in person and give my waitress a Big Tip.

First of all, no need to attack the girl for mispelling a word. It happens to the best of us. As far as all your negativity towards her, yes she did make her own decision to work at Hooters, knowing what the job was about, but really no need for men or women to make disgusting comments or gestures towards the girls of Hooters. I worked at Hooters for three years and it got me through undergrad and graduate school - that's right, I have three degrees and yeah, so what if the attire involves short shorts and a fitted tank top, there are girls that wear less when they go out. I'm sure I made more than any waitress working at Denny's, but hey, it paid my private school tuition and if this is in fact a society that gives more money to a girl with a nice bod, than that goes farther back than what any Hooter girl can account for. Sounds like most of you are ignorant, judgemental people making a pathetic, un-educated analysis. When I look at my degrees hanging on the wall - I am incredibly proud that I graduated with a 3.96 - many private schools do not have government funding, so private scholarships only go so far - God forbid a girl growing up in the projects has to earn money to help pay for a forty thousand dollar a year private schoolâ;¦by herself.

Wow, Bless your daughters heart. I sure hope she is not reading your posts. What exactly do you call "out of shape"? The girls I have seen in Hooters, while may have nice bodies and you say your daughter has a natural nice body, I can tell you I have a more extream workout than they do and I am in much better shape. Most of them do not work out if any of them do, especially if they have "natural" beauty like your daughter. I have friends that work at Hooters and while they know the perks of how to make money and choose to flaut it, they do not complain about it. They often ask me to come to work for Hooters and while I choose not to put myself in that position.

I work for corporate America as well. Though I no longer look as I did when I was 20 I am still very hot myself. Believe me I am so conservative that I make Laura Bush look like a flaming liberal. Hotmama69 works in a corporate job? Really? She's not incredibly articulate nor is she acting like an adult. She acts like someone who's mourning her youth (likely spent at Hooters) and is lashing out at anyone who speaks out against the Hooters girl who can't spell. The Hooterchick who has an attitude about being looked at in her tightywhitey is way off as well. I agree with the majority of the posters; that she chose the job, and that she probably makes a fair amount of tips because of her body. However, both men and thinking women will tip her well if she has a sense of humor and believes that providing customers with excellent service is worthy of a good tip. I am a frequent diner all over the country and I tip very well for good service, regardless of what the server is (or is not) wearing. Let's reward those who work hard at their craft, and honor them for doing a great job. If you took the job to show your body and think that's all it takes to make tips, you'll probably starve.

I totally agree with you. Why I'm actually following this post I have no idea. But I've gotten caught up in hotmama and katchen and find it very entertaining. Needless to say, those who really ARE hot rarely have to express it so vehemently as hotmama does. Also... doesn't the name alone set off any red flags to anyone who potentially might take her seriously? A previous poster commented that she worked at Hooters in able to achieve three different Masters degrees. I'm thinking... NOT...lol. I'd be the first to admit I'm not hot anymore. Well, except to my husband, God bless him. I'm certainly not going to feed my own ego with blatent begging for attention and admiration which is the ONLY reason hotmama and the original blogger continue. I too have worked in the service industry, albeit it years ago and only for the quick tips in cash. It wouldn't be my career choice for ANY reason. But... this is fun...lol.

I understand that people look down on welfare participants, but in defense to people who receive welfare for the right reasons, I am a single mother who used to work for the county full time, and after my boyfriend left me while I was pregnant with my second child, I went through a rough patch and had to go on aid. I am working for Chili's restaurant and I still receive aid to help me out further. If it wasn't for welfare, I would have ended up homeless, hungry and without a roof to put over my children's heads.
As for the girl who works for hooters, I also have large breasts and I get gawked at everyday, but I also like to wear cute clothes that sometimes show a lil something and that is my fault. Being a waitress at Hooters, of course you should have been expected to be treated in an appropriate manner. So I agree with everyone else, if you don't like it, work somewhere else.

I'm a woman and personally I'm sick of women complaining about how men view them as a sexual object or only see their body and not them, well what the heck do you expect when you got your body in their faces, of course their not thinking about you. Breasts and the behind are things that turn men on and when its out and about of course that's all they want from you is sex and treat you like a sex object. Men go to places like Hooters and strip clubs to see scantily clad women fulfill their fantasies. You women like to make money off your looks but remember there is a price that comes with it, when you put yourself on sell, others are gonna feel like they can touch, feel, and make comments. I use to visit the Playboy Club in Los Angeles, in the 70's. The food was excellent and the mixed drinks were great. They made a Singapore Sling that was sooo good. As a business women, I had a key. They also had excellent entertainment. Now those Bunnies were very beautiful and shapely. The rules were you didn't touch them however. The guys were mostly upper middle class and rich... They were a different crowd of course. You had to be there to understand. Anytime a woman can go to a place like Playboy Club and feel good, even though most of those working there were not the average woman. You still felt good, because the environment was good. If you're that friggin' unhappy, quit the bloody job! At that job, you are the piece of meat. Your "assets" if you will, are what get men in to pay your salaries for you. I've seen stories about women, who had to pay bills, who were working as strippers. These were women who were making a decent living during the day, but at night were going to another town to work as a stripper, because their first job just wasn't paying enough. I've known a few strippers, men & women alike, & they love being a piece of meat, because it means they can pay their bills. I've tried to get my husband to be a stripper, because I knew he'd make great money. Do I mind other women looking at him ? No. Do I mind other women hitting on him ? No. Because it'd be just a job. He said the only reason why he never pursued that as a career, was it meant he couldn't be with me in the evenings. He had no problem with being a piece of meat.

I would like to know one thing from this 'girl'. Did your interviewing manager not tell you what the job would entail? Do they lead you to believe that this is just like working at Fridays? I used to frequent them with friends in the Fort Lauderdale area and we never treated the girls badly, we tipped well and usually had them crowded around our tables because the 3 of us were comedians and my buddy D was strikingly handsome with piercing eyes. The girls used to come to us just to get close to him, but he was shy.

The job is to wear tight clothing and look sexy hoping to get good tips out of it. Girls shouldn't expect to be treated any better than a woman 1 step away from being a stripper. But, men shouldn't be as stupid as they are and understand that these girls are not street walkers and crack ******s.
Some are trying to make mega money to put themselves through college, without having to shame their family and selves by taking off their clothing to reveal their bodies, while possibly ending up in a strangers bed every other night of the week for money.
Obviously, men go to stare. That doesn't mean that these girl are on the menu. The job is to look the part of a "Hooters girl", but, if they are looking for respect then they need to tell the guys who are verbally abusing them to stop and risk getting a lowsy tip or deal with it due to the evironment.
The managers need to be up front with these girls before they are hired and let them know how hard it is.

I signed up just to comment on this blog. I know just how she feels. I worked in a hospital cafeteria taking orders for the short order cook. I did not have on the short skirts and skimpy tops. I got so tired of when I was taking an order of comments such as "are you on the menue" and other similar comments. Not to mention the looks and I am not blessed at the top half either. Had I had a job at Hooters it would have been far worse I am sure. Many of the comments and looks at any other job would be considered sexual harrassment yet are tolerated by management in the food industry both in and out of resturants. Hey, I am a guy, and I do admire the female body as much as anybody, but guys, just because of the job these LADIES have doesn't mean you can treat them like they are just there to be lusted over. They are serving customers and THEY DESERVE RESPECT WHILE DOING SO. Maybe if you guys treated ladies with respect they may return that favor. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

First of all, nobody forced you to get a job at Hooters. Free country and most McDonalds are hiring. If not, there is Burger King, Wendy's, Taco Bell, etc. Secondly, don't believe the press about the name of the establishment. The name HOOTERS does NOT refer to the cute little owl. A LOT of the young girls that work there ARE IN FACT saving money for college or paying for the college classes, books and whatnot by working there....instead of becoming strippers. IMO, any woman who is PROUD of their daughter being a Hooters girl has seriously failed as a parent. I would kick my daughters butt if she came home one day and announced she got a job there! I taught her self respect and to value herself much more than that! (And no, "hotmama69"--good Lord is it any wonder with that kind of name?--she is not fat and ugly! In fact, my daughter is a very pretty young woman who wears a size 2)
Personally, I think working anywhere that requires you to flaunt your body is just one form of the pimp/hooker relationship. Although there is no sex taking place outside the men's minds, make no mistake about it--you are just window dressing because let's face it...Hooters isn't exactly a five star restaurant! The main point about her complaint was that she was receiving negative attention from men, saying that they are treated like pieces of meat. It makes me sick to see people talk about these girls this way. I am a successful mother and wife. My husband is currtently serving over seas. We live a wonderful life and have anything you could imagine... Guess how we got where we are today? I worked for Hooters while in college. I made good choices and great friends. Next time your visit a Hooters, instead of judging the girls who work there, ask how many of them are married, in school, have children. Hooters is not a place to go to find a date, as a matter of fact, if a man hits on you while you are working, he is the one who is made a fool. I don't look at the Hooter's girls as a piece of meat. I've found them (for the most part) to be intelligent as well as attractive (I have seen some pretty ugly hooters girls). But if they can't take the heat (whistles, cat calls etc.) then they should just get out of the kitchen and find a job where they aren't required to put their wares on display.

Well all I can say is that the difference b/t a woman on the beach and a Hooters girl is that a girl on the beach is choosing to dress that way. A Hooters girl is being paid to dress and act a certain way. So, when people treat her the way she is being paid to be treated she has no reason to complain. She is being paid to be ogled at and to attract a certain type of customer. There are many other restaurants she could work at where that type of behavior is not encouraged.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong. I'm not "jealous," either. I am not an out of shape woman. I have nice real boobs, and could work at Hooters if I chose to do so. I'd rather work for Blue Cross Blue Shield, though. So that's what I did.

Im sure I will get some kind of heat for this BUT OH WELL..No one deserves to be harrrased in thier place of employment. Yes putting on a Hooters uniform you should expect to get a little bit of extra attention but some people take it too far. I have worked at a Hooter's for 3 years now and it IS a family resturant. I can't count the number of regulars we have coming in that always bring children, grandparents, ect.. We have girls from all walks of life, sweet girls. It is far from a strip club lol...we may sit and chat with our customers (both male and female I might add) or open their ranch for them but thats about it. In the 3 years Ive worked for this company I have been lucky enough to only have a couple of incidents that made me a little umcomfortable, for the most part our guests are respectful. I dont blame the name of the resturant or our clothing for the rude comments or gestures, I blame a poor raising of the jerk who makes the comments/gestures.

I go to Hooters occasionally.
If you are an attractive woman and work at Hooters, you should expect a certain amount of that stuff.
It is the atmosphere promoted and somewhat encouraged by some of the Hooter Girls.
Outright propositions and not giving one the dignity and respect due any person are not to be expected nor tolerated.
But if you mind the occasional flirtatious behavior or the occasional wolf whistle, I would suggest that you perhaps become a server at a more dignified eatery.

I took the car into the shop for a tune-up and next door to the shop was a Hooter's. My 9 year old son asked if we could go there and get something to eat while we waited on the car. We went and had lunch and the waitress was very nice and paid a lot of attention to my son. When we were about to leave, my son suggested that we leave a $100 tip because the service was so good. First, before you complain, learn how to spell. I before E except after C.
Second, you work at a place that makes its money on not just its food, but, the draw of beautiful women as well as the merchandising of them (play cards, calendars, etc.). Once a woman is merchandised in that manner, they are looked at as objects as a whole. You knew exactly what was going to happen by taking the position, and if you didn't shame on you for not doing your research first.
Third, try working at Victoria's Secrets. Even in a suit, you get ogled, there are attempts to be felt up and there are often asked by the male customers to try things on for them. My reply was typically, "I don't think your girlfriend, wife, or mistress would appreciate me modeling this for you. And if it is for you, I think you would be better served by trying it on yourself Shall I get you a dressing room?" In other words, toughen up or find another job.

Hot Mama, you sound like a catty teenager.
It is no secret that better looking people get further in life. It is important to try to look as good as you can but while you push your daughter to work out and stay in shape, you should also be pushing her to use her head.
So while Hooters can be a great establishment where men will gawk at her and think dirty nasty thoughts of her, maybe you should be encouraging her to work at a more respectable place.

What about personal resposibility? She chose to work there. A bar where she is required to dress and, more importantly, BEHAVE in a certain manner. She is a waitress. Waitstaff jobs are plentiful. She could have applied at Morton's or Ruth's Chris, the tips would have been comparable (if not better) but the work would have been harder. She chose the cheap and easy route.

My date took me to Hooters. It was the first time I'd been there. The half-nude waitress flirted constantly with my date, sat on his lap and more or less completely ignored me. The food was awful and the "extra" service she provided reminded me of a hooker on a downtown street corner, flagging down some extra cash for the night. That was almost 20 years ago. I haven't been back since. If I want to see a naked woman, I'll strip and stand in front of a mirror. Boo Friggin Hoo for you that men "look" at you. Sheesh!!

I know that the wings at Hooters are not the only thing that guys go there for. I think maybe you should work at Denny's or someplace that doesn't focus on you boobs. I guess when they hired you they didn't give you the impression that you would be bringing in the money with the way you dress and with your body? Just had to add to all this mayhem that the girls are not really all that scantilly clad. We (yes we) wear Panty hose that are just about as thick as a diabetic socks, socks dang near up to our knees, shorts and a tank top. Yes the skin colored tights may look like skin but its not. The hooters outfit is comparable to what my daughter wears to ballet people. If we wore pink tights, a leotard and called it PIROUETTES would we deserve to be harassed too?? lol Also not everyone that works at hooters has large breast, Im quite sure we have several girls with basicly no breasts at all. They also make just as much money as the bustier version. Its amazing to me how insensitive and judgemental people can be. Even Reverend Run enjoys Hooters wings with his family. If a reverend has no problem bringing his family to an establishment I dont see how it can possibly be "that bad".

Hooters has a productive use in our society. It employs women who are at the lower rungs of the evolutionary ladder and need to use their bodies to make a living. I have no malice for her - just the facts. I bet she's probably blonde, too. Also, young lady, no one is born with a 'nice body'. You get a nice body by eating right, exercising, etc. If you don't do any of that, do you know that even thought the shell may look nice and thin, you can be a little ball of blubber, no healthier than someone over weight? hotmama69....I too am the mother of a daughter who is considered pretty and has a cute figure. She was voted homecoming queen in high school and currently is 20, in college, is a model and works as a waitress. She chose NOT to apply at Hooters because she didn't want to put up with the constant advances from men who go there just for that reason. Her uniform for her waitressing job is dark pants and a light button up shirt. Not the kind of outfit which BEGS for attention!! Before you get upset and defensive, realize that these girls who choose to work at Hooters are either not bothered by the behavior of their customers, or enjoy the attention. I think the optimum word here is "stare" no one said anything about customers crossing the "line". You chose to work at Hooters now laugh your way all the bank with the tips you are making. I don't agree with the comments being made that Hooter's Girls are a notch up from prostitutes, but the bottom line and most of the anger is being directly focused on the fact that you want your cake and to eat it too (no pun intended). If you want to work at Hooter's you have to deal with the attitudes. For less money I am sure you can find a job that covers you up more and doesn't make you feel like "today's special".

You remind me so much of a lot of the girls I work with who wear low cut shirts to show their cleavage and tight as heck jeans and then wonder why no one respects them. Respect is earned. Oh, and to add to my above comment. I, a woman, went into a Hooters one time by myself to get a drink. I sat down at a table and waited for twenty to thirty minutes for someone to wait on me. The restaurant was basically empty except for a group of about 6 men at a table. Five different waitresses walked by me without ever acknowledging me. They all hovered over to the mens table. I am a very good tipper, but I tell you what, I had never seen such crap discrimination in my entire life. I had to call a manager over and yelled at him for five minutes. A server finally came bouncing over. I ordered my drink and then left with no tip.

I've known some gorgeous girls, but once you hear the ugliness in their words or attitude... well, it just negates their beauty.

I can put any of those girls to shame (and it's all natural), but I have more respect for myself than to have to pimp my body out to earn money. IMO, that's one step away from being a stripper/prostitute. I would collect cans from the side of the road and sell blood before I would ever pimp myself out like that. There are many other ways to pay for college...no one has to resort to displaying their wares for all of the world to see. I loved being a stripper, all i had to do was smile and look pretty. If guys wanted to say stupid crap so what? i was banking on them.

My first intention was to leave a comment sticking up for the girl who originally posted (being a fellow hooters girl myself)but I'm gonna tell it like it is. HOOTERS is a restaurant where the girls where tight tank tops and hot shorts. Anyone who signs up for that is well aware of it before she fills out all the paper work. If you don't like it then don't do it (Better yet, if you can't HANDLE it don't do it.)I don't really like it, but I chose to put up with it, because it was a GREAT-paying college job....and it is NOT hard to be a Hooters girl. Don't kid yourself. I don't have a hard time dealing with it, because I KNOW that I am better than that. Hooters is not a career choice for me. It was an easy way to pay for my double degree in journalism and physics. You can not help what comes to mind when people hear the word Hooters. There is no changing that. All you can do is Do what is right for you right now. Who the hell cares what anyone else thinks! screw em and make bank!

Did you seriously expect those guys to think your a wonderful person with a great personality? Sorry to burst your bubble, but the only thing they think about when they see you is probably along the lines of i want to get in her pants. The outfits you wear don't exactly help you. Yeah you might have a great body, but did you think with that great body that you wouldn't get any guys to holler and whistle at you?

I have a similar gripe. I am forced to wear tons of makeup every night at work. I am even REQUIRED to wear "physical enhancement" items, wigs, sometimes fake boobs, fake teeth, and even a fake NOSE. And everyone LAUGHS at me!!! Just because I work as a CLOWN, it doesn't give everyone "under the big top" the right to stare at me and laugh. It's just not fair!!!
