First, you cite Dukakis and Mondale. Many of us who preferred Gary Hart in '84 and '88. We all know about the Donna Rice scandal the derailed his second run, effectively dashing our hopes for a progressive who could win.
You are the one who's gonna be cowering in the corner this time. The energy is different this year. I have not noticed such energy and momentum since I worked on Bill Clinton's campaign in 1992. I have spoken with others older than me who say this reminds them the momentum of Bobby Kennedy's run before he was tragically assassinated in 1968 (As I expressed before on another thread, I believe that - had he lived - Bobby Kennedy would have easily beat Richard Nixon that year.
Politics is cyclical in the U.S. The pendulum has swung leftward. This is our time. Obama is going to win this election.

Man, I wish that I was the one making that bet that the KC Royals would win the AL East with you because I'd win every year. (FYI, the Royals are in the AL CENTRAL!)
Oh, and I do hope that Obama takes McCain up on his offer for debates. All Obama has to do is show McCain videos of him and his ever-changing positions on the issues. McCain would be the first candidate to lose a debate to himself!

I know what you're saying QE, and you're right. I just need a break from it all. The horrors of these last few days and the lengths that some of these people will go to is draining.
I know they would love to see me leave and shut my big mouth, but the only reason they want that is because they HATE THE TRUTH.
How did the GOP get to this point? It wasn't always like this, and why do they call themselves Christians and do all their dirty work in the name of God? I am a Christian, and i guess that's why their hypocracy and dirt is so hard to take continually.
I have tried to be nice to many of these hateful, condescending cons. I have added and removed them from my friends list a dozen times in an effort to get along.. it's just too draining.
Just like ranchhands smart alec comment about my husband wanting me to clean my house! He doesn't have a clue. My husband wishes i would quit cleaning and let him tear it up. Just more of the hateful same, constantly.

Bush deserves it!
Not only has this president destroyed the Constitution, his political party, and the economy, but he's stretched the military too thin waging a war he should NEVER have started. He's ignored illegal immigration with the blessings of Mexico and he's willing to make a permanent "guest worker" underclass for his industry buddies. He is flagrantly shredding the U.S. Constitution in front of our faces...with the USAPATRIOT Act effectively p***ing on 6 out of the 10 rights in the Bill of Rights. He gives big oil sweet deals and record profits...in the meantime killing 4100 of our finest men and women....
As president, he is worse than Zachary Taylor, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, or Benjamin Harrison. Worse than Herbert Hoover or Richard Nixon. Jimmy Carter looks great in comparison.
In my opinion, he is absolutely the worst president in the history of this great country. And I cannot wait for January 20th, 2009!

Bush has done many things to earn the disrespect, disdain, and dislike of his constituents. The same cannot be said for Barack Obama. He has done NOTHING besides help people, inspire them, give them hope that they've sorely been missing, and attempt to position himself to do more of the same (how DARE he?). There is NO COMPARISON at ALL between the rank, undeserved hatred spewed on propeller toward Barack Obama and the well earned hateful remarks made about G W Bush, who has crippled this country dam near beyond repair and who has is largely responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, both domestic and foreign, in the Iraq war!

I hear you. Sometimes I need a break for a couple of day. As you can see from AG's followers, there are a LOT of paid cons and cons that are in a sheer panic. They're here to make noise. That's pretty much it. So, I step away for a few days to remind myself that there's a lot of really desperate upper income people who are terrified because they know their ill gotten war time tax cuts are gonna evaporate in November. And that's really *all* that they care about, when you think about it. That's every other sentence out of a cons mouth "socialist" this or "waaaaahhh...I voted for Bush, and my tax cuts got snatched back by his Big Oil buddies! Geez, what a total freaking moron I am. I would be very surprised, ningyo. But personally, I agree with the person who said there would be more than one video and it would have surfaced in the news if there were a shred of truth in it. The evidence against it continues to grow -- Michelle wasn't a speaker at any of the events and person who started the rumor has repeatedly contradicted himself.
The piece of fiction with a similar quote from a fictional black presidential candidate is probably coincidence. Coincidences do happen.
The original rumor just shows how desperate those on the right are. So many of you appear to believe that the end justifies the means. Trouble is the means ends up subverting the end. That's at least part of what went wrong with GWB's presidency.

So is my brother! And we have believed he's brainwashed for a long, long time. I wonder how many of them served in Viet Nam or if any of them were in Military Intelligence? That was my brother's MOS, and then they tried to get him in the CIA (thank God, he decided not to go there!).
But, he is a staunch republican and we can pinpoint the fanatical change to his service in Viet Nam. When he came back home, he was profoundly changed and unable to focus on more than one issue! He's like most of them, a one trick pony!
Well, there are 6 of us, so I guess 1 out of 6 ain't bad! Kind of reflects the general populace, come to think of it, you know, 82% vs. 18%.

Can we all grow up about this Michelle Obama hates America?
I mean who among us with half a brain hasn't hated their country, president, mother, father, brother, neighbor, dog, job etc... at one time or another?
I think this time we can't afford to be distracted.

I don't think you can be a grownup, until you have read the paper, watched the news, listened to the people in the donut shop, -
and suddenly not felt very, very TIRED of your country.
Its like anything else that asks for your dedication; babies, marriage, career, whatever; if it was always lovable it wouldn't NEED dedication.

I was wondering what other novels could be used to slander Obama:
He has a ring that turns him invisible; it is slowly corrupting him into becoming a socialist elitist Wraith.
Obama has a secret tattoo on his wrist, of a skull with a snake coming from the mouth; it appears only when the Democratic forum is called to meet.
Obama loved another woman before he became the Great Obama; now he throws huge parties of champaign-fountains and dancing by the pool, but turns lonely eyes to this mysterious, languid Daisy.
Left out of his autobiography were the childhood years where he learned to be a pickpocket in London; the ringleader that taught him theft and politics was named Fagen Rezco.
Can I get paid to do this now?

Based on past experience, the Democratic candidates and their spouses can be expected to be unmasked by the Republican Guardian Angels, AKA The Freeboat Flotilla, as "Frauds", "Perverts", "Pedofiles", "Child- and Wife-beaters", "Drunks", "Dop-addicts", "Closet-Q***s", "Islamists", and worst of all, as "LIBBURALS"...
Strange enough,but understandably, never a mention of any supra-umbilical vices!

A brief biography of Michelle Obama would note that she was not born to wealth and privilege, but that she worked very hard to better herself, earned an Ivy-league scholarship and went on to gain a prestigious law degree. She has been financially successful as a lawyer and has earned a seat on several corporate boards. But much of her work is pro bono, and she has dedicated herself to working to improve her society and community in education, civil rights, adolescent justice, child welfare, and women's rights. Although these activities consume a great deal of time, there is still no doubt that her principal dedication is to her family. She adores her husband and she positively dotes on their two daughters, with whom and for whom she has worked tirelessly to assure that they have both access to opportunity and the tools to take advantage of it.

Michelle Obama is an intelligent, energetic, accomplished, and gracious woman. During the next five months, Americans will have an opportunity to get to know her. I hope that they take advantage of it, because it will inform them about the qualities that the Obama family can bring to the White House.
