Posted By RedRiverJ 1 year, 5 months ago in NewsBarack Obama has recently been calling himself a strong defender of the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms, but Hale Demarrââ;¬"an Illinois man who got in a ton of legal trouble after he shot a home invader--might disagree with that.

Anyone who can tie his own shoes knows Obama is lying about supporting the 2nd Amendment. Obama knows that gun owners were instrumental in defeating Gore and Kerry so now democrats pretend they never heard of gun control. Don't believe it they are still the same old gun grabbin tyrants they have always been but just lie and keep quiet. And as I type they are planning another assault on the right to keep and bear arms, don't doubt it.

That, of course, produced much outrage. Within a few months, the Illinois state Senate took up a bill that would have granted an individual an "affirmative defense," or a legal justification for violating local gun restrictions if they were acting in self-defense.
But when the legislation came up for a vote in the Senate, Obama was one of 20 who voted against itâ;;and homeowners like Demarr who used guns in self defense. Thirty-eight state senators voted "aye," and the bill passed the state senate.

By May, an amendment from the Illinois House added the right of an individual to violate local ordinances banning handguns "when on his or her land or in his or her abode or fixed place of business." That version went back to the Senate, and Obama voted against the bill a second time in its amended form, though it passed the Senate again 41 to 16.
In August, Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich vetoed the bill, but in November, both the Illinois Senate and House overwhelmingly voted to overturn his veto. Obama was not recorded as being present the day the veto came up for a vote in the Senate.

Apparently I have to learn to copy my comments before posting them! Propeller loses them on a regular basis. I just posted an excellent comment to this story and propeller dumped it and said I needed to sign in first. This after I had voted on the story and given a positive to comments. This is why I have stopped visiting regularly.

The right of people to keep and bear arms is "ABSOLUTE"! The first part of the amendment is a "present participle", rather than a clause. It is used as an adjective modifying "militia"., which is followed by the main clause of the sentence (subject "the right," verb "shall"). The right to keep and bear arms is asserted as essential for maintaining a militia. The right to keep and bear arms is deemed unconditional by the entire sentence. Anyone with an average understanding of English would understand that concept.
Furthermore, an armed individual is a free person able to defend their liberty. An unarmed individual is a potential victim and slave to any entity wishing to enslave them. Before the gun it was the sword, the spear, the knife, the bow and arrow and of course hand to hand skill.
For an educated man, Obama should understand these concepts. He does not intend to honor the oath he will take if elected.

Here's just something to think about when it comes to passing laws in regards to gun ownership or the right to own guns. Up here in Canada our our fedearl Liberal government passed laws regarding registration of guns which didn't seem to be a threat but now many of the guns are ending up being destroyed because if a gun owner dies and leaves the guns to his family they are usually not registered so they become illegal owners, also I have noticed that the courses for getting a permit seem to be non exsistant. Some of these people who wish to take away ones rights to own firearms do it in a very underhanded way.
We no longer have a store willing to handle ammunition in our town of about 1800 people because of the headache involved to the store owner and we are in a rural area where there is a demand.
