It has nothing to do with their opening of new stores. I'm a hard core Starbucks fan. When my normal store stopped brewing the coffees of the day for the Pike's crap, I stopped buying. I've contacted Starbucks and let them know of my displeasure but they never bothered to return my email or phone call.
BTW-the Pike's Blend has about as much flavor and charm as the low cost store brands at your local grocers. If they want to win people back, get your act together. Quality, quality, quality.

Actually to me, their coffee tastes burnt. I've tried nearly all of their blends with the same result. None of them were distinguishable from each other. And all from different parts of the country, Chicago, Nebraska, California, and Oregon.
Give one of your mom and pop coffee shops a try. For that matter, you can order online (beans) and get coffee that will blow your mind.
Starbucks is the walmart of coffee...

That isn't true at all, where do you come up with that. They have a fair coffee trading policy. There are a number of churches selling "fair trade" coffee. Don't believe most of that the church is telling you. Most have misled and lied to the farmers by convincing them to sell the beans for much less than the market price. They also hold up the charity theme and how great they are compared to the evil big company. I worked as a volunteer with Maru. I was shocked at the fraud I saw.

Starbucks hit with class action lawsuit over tips
In a class action suit filed today in Suffolk Superior Court, Hernan Matamoros says Starbucks routinely violated Massachusetts law by requiring baristas to share money left in tip jars with shift supervisors, who perform similar duties but have managerial responsibilities.

Starbucks is pretty good, there are two in my small rural area, but I wouldn't be sorry to see them go. I seldom go to coffee shops, but when I do I much prefer one of the three local shops in this town and two near-by ones, as I have known the two of the owners for years, their shops have much more personality and great locally made snacks. As to the coffee, I'm totally spoiled with freshly roasted and ground beans at home.

Bravo! It's about time! I loathe Starbucks, they are everywhere and their coffee is terrible. There's a coffee chain called "The Coffee People" in Oregon, great stuff. However, they leased the space where they located their shops, so Starbucks buys the property from under their feet and evicts The Coffee People. There are still some Coffee People, but not many. In the tanasbourne shopping center alone there are 2 starbucks, further down the road there is a starbucks inside of a Haggen supermarket, across the street there is a starbucks inside of a Safeway. As a fan of mom and pop operations I hope 600 more close down. Grievance to the loss of jobs though, but I bounced back during a Ch. 11 bankruptcy.

Ah, Coffee People--you're making me nostalgic for my days in Portland. I loved that outlet where they used to broadcast their own tiny radio transmission, which you couldn't pick up unless you were within a block or so. Meanwhile, a guy in Portland once told me that the only time to grind your coffee was after midnight: there was less fluctuation in the power grid and you got a more consistent grind. We all have our obsessions, don't we?

Triplezero---you gotta get downtown more often. Stumptown between 10th and 11th on Stark right by the Kenny and Zukes deli and another big one on third just off of Burnside.

I'm convinced that in Chicago, you could walk into any *$ downtown, order a Venti drink, step out of the store and simultaneously start walking and sipping your Venti drink. By the time you're done with your last sip, you'll be standing in front of another *$ and that's walking in any direction!

On September 11, 2001, a Starbucks in New York charged rescue workers $130 for three cases of bottled water. This was verified by Snopes and being the truth. I have never been to a Starbucks. I never will. They could go bankrupt and it wouldn't bother me one little bit.

my hope is that, as a civilization, we'll come together and figure out some way to survive this tragedy.
maybe we should give starbucks tax subsidies, like we give to the oil companies. we need to do whatever it takes to keep those high-priced frappachinos coming!!!
