This Judge is wasting his time. Bush & Republicans are the law of the land until 1/19/2009. God willing, it will end on 1/20/2009 if a Democrat wins the WH.

??? It will certainly end for Bush, his term will be over. As for Congress they are already controlled by the Dems. So if you want change, the congress will return to Rep control, as for the President it will change no matter what you want.

I agree that these wire taps are illegal, but it was your congress that wrote the law. This is just like "no child left behind" which did not come from Bush, but Ted Kennedy.

All the President can do is approve or disapprove a law.

So I you want real change look to see how your Congressman voted on this law. You might be surprised.

Oh yes by all means let's give the congress back to the Republicans who when they had total control for 6 years did nothing but line their own pockets and start an unnecessary war.

Historically, with some exceptions, when the Administration and the Congress are controlled by the same party - whether conservative or liberal - more laws, programs and treaties are passed that benefit the nation. But when the two are of different parties there is excessive in-fighting that stands in the way of the good of the nation. Sometimes the same party controls both the Admin. & Congress, but fighting for power spots within the political party prevents action for the nation -&- sometimes those in power are driven to enhance their own coffers vs. do the job they were elected to do. They are humans and humans come in all styles from honorable to selfish to criminal -&- we have seen all of these kinds throughout our political history.

So you are saying that what we have been seeing for the last 8 years has been an historical aberration? I agree.

This may be so historically, but it also makes it a lot easier to pass laws that harm the nation, to sweep things under the carpet, and pass laws without any real debate or information to the public.

Didn't he say that he would veto any law that didn't include immunity to the telecoms? That sounds like indirectly writing it.

            nikkibabe ~

I wish. My gut still twists in a knot when I think about

the rumblings of another terrorist attack before the

elections are held. It has never happened here - but it has

in plenty of other countries...........What if "something"

            happened?

Could Bush suspend the national elections for national

security reasons? Would it have to go to the Supreme Court?

How long would that take? Considering a different time frame

            - what would happen if that "something" happened AFTER the

elections in November, but BEFORE the inauguration in

            January?

I'll grant you, it seems too far-fetched to contemplate -

but then again, SO much of what these characters have

            accomplished is unprecedented.
