    They have actually found that driving slower does save some gas. I believe it is when driving above 50-60 mph, it increases wind resistance against the vehicle decreasing its efficiency with gas. So the people who drive 85 mph need to slow down some to save gas. However, if everyone would just stop driving their SUV's and big trucks that aren't needed, and start driving smaller cars (like the rest of the world does -look at Europe and Asian countries) a lot of gas could be saved.
