Comments for Silly Christians Praying For Cheap Gasoline »
Posted By Radiofreeeuropa 1 year, 5 months ago in NewsRockville preacher Rocky Twyman started this goofiness in April, annoying station owners and managers in D.C.- and prices began rising rapidly. Undeterred, he has spread his dumb movement to places like Florida and Ohio. Wherever his prayerful dupes show up, gas prices rise even faster. Guess how he tops this!

Oh Lord, I beseech thee, please ignore those prayers for peace or food and give us more dinosaurs to ride 'cause we can't afford these cars anymore. The price of oil (which of course we don't believe in because the world is only 10,000 years old and it takes longer than that to make oil)is too high.
God (apparently a free-marketer) has so far ignored these efforts.

Sorry; i am on this guy's side.
First, gas prices are important to people's daily lives.
Second, the fact that the prayer does not work in no way invalidates the value of the prayer.
Third, it is those who are willing to be silly for their spiritual beliefs who actualy have spiritual beliefs.
Finaly, at least he isn't badgering gays or praying for more war or the smiting of the disney channel or whatever.
Also Finaly, I like nutcases.

Some of the comments below the article are funnier than the article. From the comments:
"Oil will soon be $300 a barrell. All praises be due unto Allah."
"Exxon execs are only given more power when you pray to them."
"God hears your prayers just fine - He just wants your fat lazy ass to ride a bike and stop polluting His planet."
"We are a nation of retards. "â;¦one nation under the mean IQ, indivisibleâ;¦""
And, so far, my favorite: "You all watch: Next we'll see a crying televangelist asking us to send money to support their praying for lower gas prices, and the dumb-ass bible-thumpers will send him some.
Gallon of gas: $4.25
Gallon of gas for a good christian: $4.25 $1.00 "prayer expenditure"
Watching idiots chant/clap in futility AND lose more money: Priceless"

I think Janis had it right in the realm of hedonistic prayer:
"Oh Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends!"
Wow! If I'd been G_d at the time I'd have sure given her one as long as she sang for me every day, just for 5 minutes..

after a fashion, he did buy her that mercedes
*after all, she was born into a situation where she developed a voice that made her a lot of money
I was born to be sung to by a tone deaf mother, so God bought me a subaru
----
*accuracy ruins effective writing-couldn't say she was born with that voice, babies aren't born making music, that's for sure. The vocal cords have to grow and develop, the ears has to hear and interpret, etc.
as for 'soul', lots of people got lots of soul and sound like a spitted civet when they try to sing
kinda like knowing what notes to hit on your strat but being forced to play with your elbows

Praying for peace among nations, stability in the middle east,...(I wouldn't poke fun at that)that would help out with gas prices to boot. But I guess there's no cameras rolling for that kind of thing. Hey God, while your at it can you drop the price of that new Acura I had my eyes on and heck, while I'm here gassin' up and praying can ya drop some free slurpies out of the sky?

Would it be better if they lost their faith, thought there was no moral agency looking down at them, and, so they felt free to drill into your car's gas tank like some have been doing in San Francisco? May they continue to believe there is a God that answers prayer, I say.

If you think it's only happening in SF (and if you actually think it has to do with religious morality), you're even more stupid than most of us think.

Dionys, you are a piece of dung. Mutania never inferred that SF is the only place that people drill into gas tanks. he merely referenced that it happens in SF, as was reported in a national news story a short while back. As for stealing gas from a person's automobile, yes, it DOES have to do with morality, religous or otherwise.
And no you are not more stupid than we think. We think you have the intelligence of a slug...

"If you think it's only happening in SF (and if you actually think it has to do with religious morality), you're even more stupid than most of us think." Hey, O "I'm not a Muslim". I'm sure it's not just happening in Frisco. I just heard it to be and, was using it as an example. By the way, HOW do I think drilling into gas tanks deals with religious morality? Possibly because I believe that those who pray probably DO believe in a God that says "thou shalt not steal" MAKING it a moral agency that they follow, and, in the process, you don't have to worry so much about what's happening in San Fran (and OTHER places. How's that? OTHER places. You happy NOW O "I'm not a Muslim"? OTHER places.) :)

You can buy a very good SUV for a third of what it cost new and when O is pres, the price will probably come down to around $1.50. Praise the Lord ...
When O becomes president, all will be right in the world. He will have the power to make everything right again.
And if he is elected, and everything stays the same, or more likeley, gets even worse, can we come back and bitch-slap you for being so gullible?

You can bitch slap me if things get worse when Obama is president as long as i can kick you azz for electing Bush twice and driving oil through the roof by destabilizing the ME...mission accomplished.

I wholly agree with the "silly" part. My first though when seeing the article yesterday was these people are plainly a couple of attention-seeking nut-cases, period. Yeah, lets go hang around a gas station and pray! Yeah, pray that the media grabs onto it, other nuts will join in and they end up with followers, attention and -- of course -- money. Didn't do anything to affect the price of gas at even one station, but that was never the real point. Halleluiah!
