"On Tuesday, the government said it would test numerous other kinds of fresh produce while insisting that tomatoes remained the leading culprit. Investigators have kept quiet about exactly what other vegetables are getting tracked but said they are looking at items commonly served with fresh tomatoes."
You would think they would give a better warning-like before more people get sick...WTH!!!!

This bunch people that are running our FDA, may have degrees from some University or College, but they evidently lack common sense or were asleep during history class that discussed last century's illnesses and the need for an FDA to be started in the first place! Early years, last century, it was nothing to open a vegetables and find a finger inside or a piece of machinery.
There is no excuse not catching this salmonella before it reached the market. (It is called product on hold for test results!) I have worked in Quality Control both in labs and with labratory personnel. Testing is a procedure and believe me our government has procedures!
Thanks STONERS!

This is just more of the same deliberate sabotage of our federal government from Bushco privatization, free market, and trickle down proponents. The plan isn't even all that sophisticated. Undermine the government in the public's eye and this will convince us that privatization is the way to go. If enough bridges fall out from under Americans, enough lives are claimed by mine accidents, enough people are poisoned by our food supply, enough people die because of natural disasters, etc, etc then this will convince people they can't trust the evil "big government" and that it's time to give the free market a shot. I can't wait to find out all the ways in which the Bush administration has tried to destroy various government agencies from within. Should be a real eye-opening experience.
