But Obama's main message was the government's duty to address what he said are "moral problems" â;; such as war, poverty, joblessness, homelessness, violent streets and crumbling schools â;; and to employ religious institutions to do it.

On Thursday in North Dakota, Obama said that "I'll ... continue to refine my policy" on Iraq after an upcoming trip there. With a promise to end the war the central premise of his candidacy, the Obama campaign has struggled over the past two days to push back against Republicans and others who say his recent statement could be a softening or change in policy.
Obama has always said his promise to end the war would require consultations with military commanders and, possibly, flexibility.

WASHINGTON, July 5 (UPI) -- Barack Obama got a few boos Saturday when he told the National Education Association convention in Washington he supports merit pay.
The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee spoke by video link from Butte, Mont., where he spent the Fourth of July. The response to his speech was generally enthusiastic from a union that has already endorsed him, USA Today reported.
"I'm tired of hearing teachers blamed for our problems," Obama said. "I want to lead a new era of mutual responsibility in education."

But the NEA delegates were less enthusiastic when Obama listed problems such as the high U.S. dropout rate, poor scores in math and science, and the millions of students reading below grade level. Some delegates booed when Obama said teachers should get additional pay for teaching in tough schools, mentoring students or acquiring additional skills.
"In some places we've already seen that it's possible to find new ways to increase teacher pay that are developed with teachers, not imposed on teachers," he said, to more boos.

This is what is known as moving to the center for the general election.
Both candidates will do it in fact are already doing it.
I would argue Obama is correct to avoid promising the troops will be pulled out regardless of the situation on the ground.
It would be irresponsible especially now with the oil speculators more nervous than ever.
The bottom line is no matter who is elected those troops will be there for much longer than alot of Liberals want.

Bringing Our Troops Home
Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq.
He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months. Obama will make it clear that we will not build any permanent bases in Iraq. He will keep some troops in Iraq to protect our embassy and diplomats; if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda.

What's your point? Obama can't be trusted cause he'll change his mind or just tell people what they want to hear? I know that's the RNC's strategy but people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks Klarrisa.
Afterall, the BIGGEST flip-flop of whale on the beach proportion has to be Honest John and torture right?
Please....Obama has to deal with the spilt milk in the ME. At least we all know he knew it was a bad idea from the start where as your guy seems to think it was genius!
