I also think they would be saddened by the misuse of the Constitution to promote prejudice and oppression to many. Free speech has been abused in many ways. But, we have to protect it regardless. The right to bear arms, the same, but we have to protect it, etc. I don't think they could have envisioned this in any way. How we've evolved from the original has many good points obviously, but some not so good as well. Sorry for such a broad picture. I don't need to tell anyone how complicated the simple has become.
