State and Federal rebates will cover up to 50% of costs associated with renewable energy installation. Check you local info. The sun is the power source for earth.

I'm not sure, but if you make more power than you can use, can't you SELL wattage/power back to your local energy company through the grid? Maybe re-coup more money to off-set the cost of the solar shingles.

I don't no, I've never been in a position to sell power back to PG&E (Pacific, Gas and Electric-west coast).

I have big dreams of becoming the next ENRON.

Photovoltaic (PV) power is not renewable, it's not green and it is not efficient. It has not yet been conclusively proven that PV panels pay back the energy that it took to make them. The outrageous cost of PV only looks attractive when taxpayers are forced to pay for half of the system. If PV was so great, wouldn't there be PV factories using this "free" energy to make more solar panels. I worked in the industry for 7 1/2 years and know this stuff to be a sham. They have been "getting the cost down" for thirty years and it still is not worth it. The manufacture of the semiconductor devices that are the solar cells is one of the most environmentally-damaging industries around. We know less about battery disposal than we do about nuclear waste disposal. PV should not be the smallest part of the answer.

Solar may be an expensive initial perchase but for some one who lives a looong way from the nearest grid access solar may just pay off quite nicely in the long run.

This appears to be an advertisement from the maker of the shingle. I would hate for the capitalists to take over Propeller.
