Depends on state law and local situation.
In states with Net Zero laws, you sell back your unused energy to the local electric company at retail. Yes, retail!
Of course the local electrics don`t like paying retail, so some try end runs such as denying access to the grid or throwing up some other hurdle.
But if you`re already on the grid and you have a Net Zero law enacted in your area, then you will get paid retail electric prices for your excess.
