"Perhaps 90 % of the American public have been dumbed down by junk media or narcotized by consumerism; always the need to feel better off than their neighbors."
It appears that way to me.
"Easy to forget the utter and tragic waste of $ 600 billion tax dollars that could have paid for better schools, better jobs, better health care......"
Again a salient point.
"Bottom line: we've been conned, hoodwinked - Downright lied to by our government in Washington, and few seem to care."
Hardly a recent situation. Your government has been lying to you for decades. Ooo the evils of taxation. What a crock. You probably already pay enough taxes to be able to fund social programs, rebuild your infrastructure and institute universal healthcare, but instead the super rich have been frightening you with scary stories of the evils of socialism. Spend your tax dollars on your citizens, not on buying more weapons to kill poor people on the other side of the world.
